Title: help stop horse theft.
Post by: javelina on July 09, 2012, 11:43:42 PM
Marvin Raber stole this horse,  tried to race and got caught.   Then pushed horse thru a fake sale and is trying again.   We need you.

 The Raber shenanigans continue...

He has STAR in to qualify at Scioto on Tuesday July 10.

PLEASE, for all that want to help STAR... we need to CALL SCIOTO before 10am their time.

Call the Race Office 614-491-2426 or Toll-Free Number: 1-800-723-6967 Call the Judges 614-491-5855

PLEASURE HORSE ONLY, CANNOT RACE !

He stole the horse?

There is a police report to prove this?

From what I understand the judges are aware of the situation and there isn't any "theft" involved at all.

There are steps to be taken when horses are sold as "pleasure" only and those steps were not followed by the previous owner and calling Marvin a "thief" on a public forum is uncalled for and frankly I hope the Power Which Be removes it ASAP.  >:(

Marvin Raber did not steal the horse. This is horseshit and he is getting screwed over big time. He bought a horse at a real auction, not a fake auction.

Supposedly once the former owners heard he had bought the horse at auction, the former owners declared that the horse had been sold by them to whoever sold the horse at auction as a "pleasure only" horse, thus making the horse unable to race again. Unfortunately, the horse was not sold at auction as a pleasure only horse. He owns the horse and can now race it.

This is not a new situation, but something the busybodies want to rehash. This is what happens when someone does not want to get embarrassed after they sell a horse.

Years back, I had a huge 2yo pacer that was pushing 17 hands. He could fly, but always lame, and threatening to bow a tendon at any minute. An Amish fellow was passing thru and wondered if he was for sale, so I sold the colt for cash and handed him the signed papers.

Couple years later I got a call from the USTA that someone was wanting to qualify him at Maywood Park, but I was still the registered owner. I told them that I sold him, but didn't know the buyers name, so I didn't give a sh*t if someone else did well with him. He quallied well, then broke down after his 1st money start. Glad I ended up with the money instead of the horse.

Nobody involved did anything shifty... stuff just happens.

In this case I know exactly what happened, as I spoke to one of the owners of the sale company where the horse was bought by Marvin Raber.

This is a case of utter b.s.

When people sell to the Amish, they do not like ever seeing the horse race again, so they do not give the papers to the buyer. They may sell it to an Amish buyer with the understanding the horse is for pleasure or Amish use only.

The buyer then sells to another Amish man for a small profit. New Amish owner drives the horse on the road, sees it is a nice horse and word gets around the Amish community that "Joe Shetler has a really fast horse..."

SO Joe decides to put the horse in the auction with no papers. The buyer then applies to the USTA for papers using the horse's tatoo number, and the USTA informs the buyer that the horse was declared to be pleasure only. When the buyer asks when that happened, the USTA learns it was after the sale, which is a no no. Turns out the horse has been sold twice since the first sale, so that negates the "pleasure only" status.

What it boils down to (in my opinion) is people do not want to be embarrassed when the horse comes back from the Amish and makes someone else money.

My understanding is the horse was given away and designated pleasure only, the receiver accepted the horse as this.   After awhile they ended up getting rid of the horse, to Raber.   The owner never put the horse up for auction instead the people who took the horse for pleasure only did.

Raber ended up with the horse and the orginal owner had no idea this was occurring until the horse showed up in a qualifier at Northfield.

The owner contacted Northfield who in turn stopped the horse from being able to race.

Raber then put the horse in another auction and used the paperwork from the auction to remove the original owners name and pleasure only designation.

Isn't it funny Raber had the horse before and after the auction?   Just now he is the "listed" owner?

What was the purpose of the original owner listing the horse as pleasure only?   It was so it wouldnt be raced anymore.

Now...to add to all this when the original owner contacted Raber about this whole fiasco she was told to basically go pound salt in other words pay this huge fake bill.   Then when the horse went into that sale she had someone there but they just bidded up the auction as the money they were spending was going right back into there own pocket, less the auctioneer fee, which isnt much.

Top it off this same Raber is the one who was charge in New Jersey with animal cruelty, that was real.

Why would anyone even contemplate letting him care for a horse?

If it's that important to you, contact the local Racing Board and the USTA and give them your name, then file a formal complaint.  ... pretty simple.

The title of the thread is "help stop horse theft". The horse was obviously not stolen. The horse is obviously not going to be prevented from racing-he qualified today. Finally he must not be too lame, he trotted in 2:00.1.

This is a total bullshit thread-he said, she said. Well I say to all concerned: If you wanted the horse badly enough or were so worried about the welfare of the horse, you should have kept the horse or donated it to a horse retirement facility.

You cannot designate a horse as a "pleasure only" horse long after the horse has been sold. It is my understanding that the former owners were contacted by an attorney and presented an offer to buy the horse back and did not take the offer.

I've been reminded several times about selling a horse "with out" papers.......

1-You do not want a horse remaining in your name and opening up yourself to a possible liability issue if the horse would be involved in an accident of any sort resulting in damage.

2-If God forbid a horse is in your name and unbeknownst to you it ends up in a killer pen, YOU are the responsible party.

We never sell a horse unless the signed papers accompany the horse and we only sell to reputable Amish men. The people we deal with, we've dealt with for years......they have wonderful reputations and keep us informed on a horses welfare........I've had new owners contact us after buying a few wanting to know quirks or to say a mare we've sold just foaled........it's actually very comforting.

I'm not a fool in rose colored glasses......I'm sure there have been some less than ideal conditions some have ended up in.........unfortunate nature of the business when you can't afford to keep them forever.

All this aside..........a thread dedicated to calling a horseman a horse thief and abuser is bullshit.

And pretty hypocritical from someone who continually defended his connections against accusations........accusations mind you, I've also voiced displeasure in being made.

I can't think of anything that can get everyones' hair up quicker than the topic of what to do with horses that can no longer race or like this one today that was supposedly going to retirement and ends up racing.  I would think the previous owner of said horse would be happy to see it alive and well enough to qualify today in 2 min. and some change.  hammerhead1  You have alot of "Marvin Rabers" to go thru to find the one in the New Jersery mess.  Don't think this "Marvin" is same one but who knows.  Those damn Amish get around fast.   hammerhead1

Checked the article. Marvin needs to be more careful with things.

I am guessing some of the people here know him?
Is he a good guy?

Also if you sell a horse to the amish you really dont know where it will end up. They are tougher on horses than anyone else. They will sell it to slaughter or whomever offers them a profit or money on the animal after he no longer has a use for them. Id personaly rather be put down than sent to live on aan amish farm is I was a horse.

I think the author of this thread is trying to do the right thing.
Would be nice if a vet with honesty and integrity checked the horse out and gave a report on his soundness.
And dont say if hes racing hes sound. Hundreds of unsound horses race every week.

My concern first and foremost is for the horse.
And wish him the best.

Interesting thread and I had to comment  4pezz2 4pezz2 4pezz2 4pezz2

Jeremy you have a memory like an elephant.

The author of this thread deserves alot of the abuse. Primarily for a continued association with the scumbag site. Well after it was known and unacceptable for anyone who gives a damn about anything in the sport.

But I have come to forgive and forget and like just about everyone.

The author of this post is impulsive, sometimes misguided and goes way over board and is what he is.
I do not think he is as malicious as some think he is.

I like you and Headpole and Tross and etc etc.
I  like Amy. And think there are a bunch of good people here. Thats why I come here.

Hopefully when you get older you will feel the same way.

Now instead of derailing this with my not being skeptical enough of people.

Do people here know the person in question? People whoms opinion would be respected.

If it was a guy from here. Id either
1. stick up for him. Which means I like him
2. not mention him which means I didnt.

Something is a amiss here but this was just brought to my attention, I guess he got off easy in this court and 3 days later the following charges were brought up.

http://origin-www-prod.lehighvalleylive.com/warren-county/index.ssf?/base/news-3/1283227513293740.xml&coll=3 (http://origin-www-prod.lehighvalleylive.com/warren-county/index.ssf?/base/news-3/1283227513293740.xml&coll=3)

I am not finding any follow-up to these charges?   But there were many.

...In keeping with Hunker's count, the SPCA filed 195 animal cruelty criminal charges and an equal number of civil complaints, SPCA Capt. Rick Yocum said Monday....

....Yocum said it is not uncommon for slaughter-bound animals to be crammed into small trailers and trucks.

"It's all about dollars and cents," he said. ....

Problem is the powers that be tend to suck.
The laws and enforcement of them regarding animals and animal creulty are archaic.

In states like Ohio where livestock  and farming are so prevelant its even more tilted against the animals and in favor of the humans.

Factory farming is inherently cruel just buy its nature.
Like to see the laws changed.
Wont happen though and I still eat steak and bacon.

Even if this is the same guy i do know he was only the driver doing a favor for the regular driver that normally went,  the truck and trailer was taken to him already loaded and the reason he got charges was the fact that whoever loaded him, loaded him top heavy and over weight  by less than a 1000 pounds.  Also we all know accidents can happen to anyone. They died as a result of an accident, not from being overcrowded.  More could have died because they were overcrowded as a result of the accident, but being overcrowded is not what killed them.

If people didn't eat animals, they wouldn't have been going to slaughter for consumption, so that means every person that eats meat is to blame.  Except us in Ohio, Indiana and Chicago, because it was headed east.

The only real ethical problem I see here is with someone designating a horse as pleasure only ...after the horse has been sold twice.

Many horses come back from injuries. For someone to try and control what happened to a horse only after dumping the horse is the real travesty.

I do appreciate the page hits this dumbass thread has generated though.

Also for what it is worth, my cousin drives a truck that hauls animals to slaughterhouses. He said 196 sheep is not even close to overcrowding. He gets 95  cattle on that weigh about 500 pounds each. Sheep weigh less tjhan 100 pounds.

I had a very nice homebred filly that won her 1st 4 or 5 starts, until she broke a sesamoid. Had it removed and I couldn't get her sound enough to race, so I gave her to a friend (and partner) for a broodmare. Couple of years later he put her back into training.

Long story short: She won the F&M Open at Pompano and went on to win $100k. Instead of being pissed-off, I was thrilled that she had a great career doing what she loved to do.

IMO, if you want to have the say-so on a horse forever, don't get rid of them.

I have no clue who this guy is...........or what he did or didn't do.   My question is (especially after reading Scioto's FB page) all these people are absolutely livid about this situation, why wasn't there representation at Scioto to stop the horse, a protest, even an angry mob.  There has been a lot of people all outraged on these two forums, but no one that I am aware of actually doing anything but talking.   Do you really think posting here is going to change anything?   I get that you're upset, like I said, I have no knowledge about the situation, but it seems to me that these owners should have made a point of being at Scioto and making there feelings known and to do it in front of Mr. Raber, where he'd have a chance to defend himself.    idunno

Joani the point is, the goofs have no horse in this race. Let the do gooders whine and bitch all they want, Marvin Raber did absolutely nothing wrong, end of story.

He bought the horse properly and a bunch of goofsballs tried to make it out like he did something wrong.

Kind of unfair. I have never owned a horse but do care aboou the sports health and overall perception. Mainly so that it survives and my friends can make a living. And I have a lot of fun going to the races.

Apparently the horse broke a cesamode (sp?). But the original owners need to do more.
To make sure that returning to the races didnt happen.
If it meant that much to them.
Just pawning off to the Amish and filing pleasure only papers with the USTA isnt really cutting the mustard.

I don't even know if there is such a thing as "pleasure only" kind of filing with the USTA.

Many horses come back from sesamoid injuries..............especially if given enough time to heal.

The real beef these owners have is with original person the gave the horse too.  And like I said, they would have been foolish to not sign off on the animal in the first place.

Was not referring to you. Sesamoids and pastern bones (whichever it was) are both injuries that horses often return and race well after, especially after getting a lot of time off.

The people involved in stirring up this shit could care less about horses, they just want to stir up shit and act like they actually care about them. Do you think for even a second that Casey gives a damn about any horse after he cashes a ticket on them?

It would seem to me that an owner who was in no way, shape or form "made out of money" wouldn't hire legal counsel and bare not only the expenses for those services, but the countless hours of work tracking this whole thing from the start.

Here is some information from that counsel:

"The course of events, of which the U.S.T.A. is familiar are as follows.  While the owner of the horse, Four Starz Valley in conjunction with two separate attempts by my trainer to get this horse to the races in California, he fractured a coffin joint twice.

He first fractured a coffin joint in his first qualifier for me and was laid up to rehabilitate for over one year at our farm in Riverside.  After rehabilitation and clearance by my veterinarian to begin training he was once again trained down in anticipation of racing again.  However, he did not make it back to the races.  In advance of him qualifying a second time he again fractured the same coffin joint.  At that time the veterinarian determined that due to his re-injury and confirmation he would never be safe to race as had suffered the second fracture, to the same coffin joint, in the same manner that he originally had.  At that time I adopted the horse out keeping the registration paperwork so that ownership could not transfer and no one could race the horse again.  This was done so-as to protect the horse from catastrophic injury and to protect other horsemen or participants should the unthinkable happen where this horse completely breaks down in any race.

Unbeknownst to me and my intent to adopt this horse out to a forever home, I have subsequently learned, he instead ended up in several Amish sales on the east coast in Ohio and Pennsylvania."

ONE YEAR ON REHAB. Doesn't sound to me like someone who "dumped" a horse.

"Soon thereafter I learned that Marvin D. Raber had the horse upon his demand to me in the amount of $9,000.  This was after I had no knowledge of him having obtained the horse, the circumstances surrounding his obtaining the horse, and with his full knowledge that he would not be able to obtain transfer for the registration papers held electronically unless he submitted a fraudulent transfer slip through a race office.  As the legal owner of this horse, Marvin D. Raber did not have my authority to have possession, train, or care for this horse.  Only after he fraudulently obtained the horse via private sale after a reserve not met sale at an Amish auction (Smokey Lane), and he qualified the horse at Northfield, did he make any demand upon me for anything"

Why would the previous owner be responsible for 9 grand in training fees if Raber was the rightful owner? Why won't Northfield let him enter the horse at the current time if the Judges are OK with this?

"As the legal and bona-fide owner of the horse I placed the U.S.T.A. Pleasure Horse Designation on him outlined in Rule 26, and registered via Inner Circle to ensure that he would not race again.  I faxed letters to Janet Terhune at the U.S.T.A., Lester Teeters (Presiding Judge at NFLD), and Dave Bianconi (Racing Secretary at NFLD) explaining the situation.  Despite the designation, and no transfer on ownership to anyone else this horse was permitted to qualify with me and my partner as the legal owners. I am licensed as an Owner in California and Minnesota.  We are not members of the Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association, we have no Ohio racing licenses, and had this horse broken down in the qualifier and injured others we would have had no liability insurance coverage to protect any damage to race equipment, personal property, or others.  Just the fact that this horse was permitted to race in Ohio without a legal change of ownership was a failure of the system"

As the "legal" owner of the horse, why didn't Raber transfer him BEFORE he was entered and completed the qualifying race if all was on the up and up?

"After the horse qualified Marvin D. Raber then paid the private party for the horse he had qualified and then he engaged an attorney to pursue an Ohio Farm Lien in order to circumvent what I had put into place, so he could race the horse.

From a fraudulent demand for an erroneous amount of money ($9,000) when Marvin D. Raber never paid for the horse via private sale (in an unknown amount) until after the horse qualified at Northfield, to a defective legal process in Ohio, when I am a California resident with no connection to Ohio and Raber had no authority from me in Ohio, to defective legal notice, to a fraudulent public sale where the only  horse that was sold on that day was Four Starz Valley, Marvin D Raber obtained a bill of sale from the Sugarcreek Auction House on June 20, 2012."

Sounds like a clean business deal, right?

"On July 6, 2012, I received an anonymous tip that the USTA set forth that I "signed off" on the Pleasure Horse Designation in some manner.  That I took the pleasure horse designation off of Four Starz and cleared him to race again and that the registration papers to Marvin D. Raber would issue.
That is patently false.  I never removed the designation.  I wouldn't have done so under any circumstances due to the health, safety, and welfare issues present in this case.  This is an issue of the horse suffering catastrophic breakdown and the potential for injury to others.  That is the reason I made the designation that is the reason I am pursuing this case.  This horse is unsafe to race."

Funny, the previous owner never asked for money for the horse, just that he be handed over to an Ohio Rescue Program who would offer a caring home and prevent any "mishaps" that could potentially come about by racing an unfit animal.

"The purpose of the Pleasure Horse Designation is just this kind of a case.  If an owner has a horse that is unsafe or unfit for racing and they want to prevent the horse from racing in the future they are supposed to be covered by making the Pleasure Horse Designation.  Horses can never race, be bred, or used in any way for racing.  You can even transfer the ownership and the designation is supposed to remain."

"At this time if the registration papers are not revoked and this horse isn't prohibited from ever racing again, as was the intent when I as the legal owner put the Pleasure Horse Designation on him, I will immediately proceed with any avenue available in order to publicize this case and pursue any legal remedies available to me. Further, Marvin D. Raber should be penalized for his misconduct as outlined under U.S.T.A. Rules:  Rule 20, Section 7;  Article I, Section 3; Article IV, Section 2; and Rule 11, for his misconduct and multiple acts detrimental to the sport.
over the papers will keep the horse "safe".  Lo and behold the horse shows up at an Amish sale, is bought by a horse trainer, who knows there are no papers.  No worries, they can do a fraudulent transfer slip through the race office once they get the horse qualified and get the registration papers issued in their name.  This happens all the time, the USTA knows about it, and that was supposed to be the impetus behind this program to stop that.

And that is what the Pleasure Horse Designation was supposed to prevent"

Actually I am told that the horse was being used in Holmes county, Ohio as a buggy horse. He was so fast that Marvin Raber heard about the horse and bought him at Sugarcreek Livestock Auction.

Happens all the time. Now look at it this way: if the horse is sound enough to trot up a storm on the paved roads of Holmes county, is sound enough to qualify not once but twice, and trot in 2:00.1, how sore can he possibly be? How many times is a veterinarian incorrect? Often!

There are different sides to any story and especially if the above account is from an attorney, I have grave doubts about the authenticity of said claims.

I have heard from one of the owners of the auction, and I have heard from Raber's representatives. Sue away. Case dismissed.

When you trade in a car for a new one, do you get to tell the dealership who they can sell it to and what they can use it for?

If I retain the registration and you give me money for the car is it still my car if you dont get the registration?

If I take my neighbors car and sell it to you without a registration do you own it?

Apparently the Cali owner says she gave to a place where the horse would be used as "pleasure" horse. she retained the registration with the thought that it would protect her and the horse from this happening.

Anywho.
This is going on at a few forums now and not accomplishing a whole bunch.

If the cali owner ( who still holds the horses racing credentials) wants to make a fuss I suggest she does it with the USTA or through other outlets such as media.

Rehashing it here over and over isnt going to do much.

Take care my friend Jeremy.

So what part of "the previous owner didn't want to nurse the horse back to health, therefore dumped the horse and is now pissed off because the horse made it back to the track, don't you understand?
And then, through utter jesalousy, the previous owner informs the USTA that said horse is to be used for "pleasure only",(after the horse makes it back)
Only 2 people know the true story yet people like Fuzz,BBF, and JJ condemn this man and continue to skew the facts to suit their own warped agenda.
Get a GRIP!
My facts come directly from the rightful horse owner.
Where do yours come from?
So in your opinion doing the right thing by the horse is a warped screwed up agenda?
Trying to protect the horse and others that race against him is warped?
Also making horsemen, owners aware  of how the integrity of the Standardbred registry can be manipulated frudulently to "skew a horse owner or buyer or investor" That the same thing can happen to them !
We wont sweep it under the table or integrity wont allow it.

So now LV GaryD you have talk to that Dear kind man Raber and the blessed Suagarcreek Auction and that is all you need?

Cause after all you have a brother who drives livestock truck and is basically not reasponsible for his livestock safety cause they are going to slaughter anyway and over livestock trailers is and exceptable practice even if its wrong so no you understand Marvin delema?

Now the Gripper here would like to make this out to be a case of jealousy that is such a sadly pathetic verbage ass excuse I have ever heard and  same excuse I have heard  thousand of times before , from every damn cheater theif liar juicer , when eye brows get raised.

My Agenda along with many others is not hidden one bit it is just the same as every caring owner horsemen and fan in this buisness wants creditabilty accountabilty Ethical buisness practises. With horses treated with dignity and respect after racing.
If you think for one minute threatening an owner saying and quoting Marvin Raber "your horse will be pounding concrete if you dont sign his papers over" is something to be jealous of???
Getting the horse to the races and her trainer couldnt? Have you seriously bumped your head ? Have you seen the pathetic purses Northfield races for just like Calexpos pathetic and you think for one minute its about egos and money?

Case dismissed your right their Gripper Raber stold the horse the broken down animal is going to race and in your opinion the guy is the Greatest eye for horse since LOU PENA!
To be accepting of any of these types with out a full head on investigation. Is beyond belief and prettty much explains it to me why the harness industry is so much in the crapper.
Geea this jeramy guy sounds more like peewee herman.

No Fuzzy, I also talked to the USTA. I actually know the true facts of the case, and I know the law in Ohio. You see I was born and raised 8 miles from where Marvin Raber lives, and I have bought and sold Amish horses for at least 35 years, although the last one was 3 years ago.

The moment she handed the horse to someone else, it was no longer her horse. After the horse was sold multiple times at Amish auctions, papers or no papers, she had zero say in the matter.

She is damned lucky the horse was not taken to Mexico and slaughtered. That is what often happens to Arizona, Nevada, and California horses who are "free to a good home".

PETA can go to Sugarcreek, Kidron, Mt. Hope, and Farmerstown auctions every week. I think there is even an auction at Creston every week as well.

I strongly urge the PETA heads to go. They might learn a thing or two. By the way Bob Evans and many other large chains buy their livestock at these auctions. I talked for an hour with a Bob Evans buyer last fall. Very impressive how they handle these animals, despite the fact that they will be sausage within 12-24 hours of the auction.

Oh and by the way, had Ms. Wiener contacted the USTA prior to the original change of ownership and asked that the horse be designated "pleasure only", guess what? They would have designated the registration as pleasure only and it could never have been changed.

Thank you very much, laddies. Now what? idunno

Really 3 wide?  This is the person that you say people should care what he has to say?

Thank you Ron.

When I say something it is for the most part true.

You were way out of line when you responded to FPs first ever post here with no one cares what you have to say.

Obviously you do.

But enough with this. The lady needs to contact media and USTA etc etc. Which she apparently has.

lol
Just for the record the person I called trailer trash is one of my best friends in the world whom I speak to almost every day.

Now man up Jeremy and let it go.

Not hardly Amy I m a friend of Chandlers Father and he is not a she as Jeramy made a comment more of man more creditable than those on this site. I was told this site was all credtitable posters from OHIO that back Mr Raber

So here we go Amy you happen to no this guy
Amy apparently isn't even a member of the USTA!

So I looked up her husband, Calvin and since 1991 he has 35 rulings against his racing license. Of those 35, four were major, including:

Suspension from 1994-1995 for racing "Lord Arnold" on Ace.

1999 Fined $500 for CLAIMING A HORSE FOR SOMEONE ELSE

2005 Improper conduct and profanity towards the presiding judges in front of the paddock judge.

So, if everyone wants to claim that ITS and it's members are "reputable" then what do you call claiming a horse for someone else?!? The ultimate NO NO!

How does  Raber having infractions make this form less reputable?
Does he post here?
Take the top poster at BTW (javelina here) and compare his BS to what is posted here and it's not even close as to what's reputable.
I don't post here often but I find what you are insinuating about this forum not being reputable to be insulting to all the fine posters here.

I'm pretty sure you are signing the ticket for your way out of here now.

No, due to my job I am not an USTA member......I've never owned a horse myself and had no desire to get my trainers license......might rethink it though.  :-X

We claimed a horse out of Michigan knowing an owner my sister was working for in Delaware at the time was very interested in buying.......turned the horse out for a few weeks and trained it back down before shipping it (Buck and I together shipped the horse) out to Delaware for the new owners to take over.......I believe at the time the Michigan claiming rule was 60 days.........well, we (all involved) screwed up and entered the horse to qualify on the 59th day......... 4pezz2......big no-no...........there are absolutely no rules on what you can do with a horse after you claim it.........but there are of course rules on when the horse can be entered out of state.

No lying about it..........Buck went into his hearing........told them what he did and suffered the consequences...........didn't place blame else where..........did whine.........did the time and paid the fine.

And you  think it is an issue?  rflmao1

The Acepromazine positives have been retold and retold over and over on these forums.........not gonna do it again..........it's one reason I am so adamant about our laws being archaic..........I know what a positive test does to a trainer and their family.........I know how wrong those who claim after a positive it is business as usual........we went bankrupt and moved in with my parents with two little babies..........guess what, Buck said exactly what he did........we even had the veterinarian make statements on his behalf, but the vet was an Ohio vet, the positives were in Michigan and the withdraw times were different.............it was nearly 20 years ago, Buck was 33 years old and just starting out on his own and trusted the vets opinions.  rflmao1  There is nothing to hide.........I can discuss all the details further in depth if you want, you can call me while I water my flowers later on tonight. 614-778-5905

OH!  The profanity!  Buck's an asshole!   slaphead He got what he deserved......he didn't like the judges call and as he was hanging up the paddock phone after calling them Bud Teeters heard him mutter under his breath "dumbasses" and fined him.  Simple.  idunno  It was unprofessional........wouldn't surprise me if it happens again because at times his mouth gets WAY ahead of where his brain should be.........but guess what.......I wrote the check out for the fine.....didn't talk to him for a few days and let it go.

He hasn't had a speeding ticket in about 5 years and I don't think I've had one in 10 or 15.

I'm always late on the truck payment.

Pay my electric bill on the last possible day..........and occasionally bluff with with a 8-9 off suit in my hand.

I've got lots of holey underwear..............Buck had bad breath this morning and I think he stiffed one of the joggers a mile.

Let's see what else............we haven't had sex in five days and my period is about to start.

Are you satisfied?  8)

And as far as being a backer of Marvin.......I just didn't want the man called a thief until someone could post actual charges........and I challenge to go over my posts and tell me where I've claimed otherwise.

But you obviously can't fight fair........so you pulled my hair........sorry dear.....I have a thick skull.

As I posted over at BTW:

I seriously doubt that Marvin Raber is a horse thief and that's been what I've always taken issue against. Let's look at the chain of events that have taken place with this situation:

Original Owner Gives horse to Adoption "forever" home - Person in charge of Forever Home takes horse - horse is than put through "several Amish sales on the east in Ohio and Pennsylvania" - Marvin Raber - Qualified horse - battle ensues.

You have find the missing link in the chain in order to determine exactly what happened at this point.... In my opinion, this missing link holds all the answers to the questions. Really it should be easy to determine, if the owner gave the horse to this person (I would think it would be someone she knew and trusted), than that person should be the one to answer as to how the horse ended up in these multiple sales.

Does anyone disagree with that?

Lily white? We are a bunch of horse stealing, judge cussing (and I have indeed cussed at every one of the judges at Northfield many times, and even called Indiana judge Tim Schmitz a c********r to his face at least once), horse doping, pot smoking, beer drinking, degenerate gambling trash. Hell I called DeVault that just last September, and Spiess...I'd like a dollar for every time I called him that.

I am not certain if I ever called Bud that to his face, but I'm sure I called him that after betting on him more than once.

Schmitz didn't fine me, but I did apologize to him the next night when I sobered up. I did not apologize for him being a c********r, only that I called him one in the bar the night before.

Old Gary D always had a pretty good amount of skill when it comes to judging people, and I hit the nail on the head that night.

Marvin Raber is very good for harness racing. His recycling of old crippled horses and saving them from becoming dog food is very honorable. A whole lot of people just don't care-why, one guy I used to train with said "hey, dogs have to eat too." I disagree. I say let dogs eat cats!

So his these are members of the USTA and Amy is not.
The line about Horsemen's Reps not being able to hold USTA memberships is completely FALSE.

Amy is the Rep for Northfield through the Buckeye HHA, she is not a member of the USTA.

Tom Blakenship is the Rep for both Scioto and Lebanon through the same association (BHHA) and has been a member of the USTA (#8444N6) since 01/1976 expiring 12/31/12 (so current in his membership).

Also, just to name off a few more:
Terry Finch - H/R for MHHA (NY) Holds a USTA Membership (expires 3/2013)

Ozzie Cole - H/R for SHHA (NY) Holds a USTA Membership (expires 12/31/12)

Pete Antosh - H/R for PHHA (PA) Holds a USTA Membership (expires 12/31/12)

Oh and Mark Ford trainer and Usta Director so has Amy been mislead.
Much like the rest of you wanting to believe Marvin is a hero not a Zero.
Well you Buckeye state have certainly got the attention of the of many.
rescue horses crippled, forging documents to the registry to be able to fill races for racinos horse bought out of how many slaughter auctions?
By the way you have any idea how many Thoroughbreds went to rescues center and ended up in Canada  in the slaughter yards? In fact Canada slaughter yards have been seending so many back to the US.

If Amy was a trainer or owner she would have a USTA license, she is neither.  That is what she is saying.

She also never said that she couldn't own a horse and be the rep or train a horse and be a rep.

Jeremy pointed it out.........never said I couldn't be........there never was a reason to be...........my 18 year old son was a USTA member and owner when he was 2 years old.........I probably have 20 family members who are USTA members.........I think I have my bases covered on USTA membership........and as I alluded too, if I decide to get my trainers license in the near future I will get a USTA membership.

I used to have a stipulation on owning, training and driving horses when I was full time, but three or four years ago when things went south and all us reps went to part time we were allowed to own, train or drive.

Your attacks are now........not only baseless.......but kind of weird.  idunno

Just a few clear-ups for Fuzzy-Wuzzy

Amy is the Rep for Northfield through the Buckeye HHA, she is not a member of the USTA.

It is the OHIO Harness Harsemen's Association.

Tom Blakenship is the Rep for both Scioto and Lebanon through the same association (BHHA) and has been a member of the USTA (#8444N6) since 01/1976 expiring 12/31/12 (so current in his membership).

Tom is no longer employed as a track rep but when he was hired the board (took a while) changed their policies on reps training horses and I strongly supported him.

These gentlemen are not employed by the OHIO Harness Horsemen's Association so it is pretty irrelevant as to what they are or aren't according to the USTA.

Now, Fuzz-ster.........all you got to do is post a couple questions and not be so gosh darn pissy and I'll gladly answer them.....like I said.......I've got lots of skeletons in my closet but few secrets any more.........I'm pretty well beyond embarrassing myself.

Further more.........why don't you answer some?  Why the attacks on me?  I don't advocate horse abuse........I don't advocate thievery.........I also don't advocate false accusations with out substantial proof.........I'm just kind of kooky that way...........Marvin is not a personal friend of mine, he is an acquaintance.......if my memory serves me right, he hasn't caused any trouble in the past and pretty much keeps to himself.

It's pretty simple really.........when Mr. Raber has charges brought against him you can crow about it.

Until then you keep dishing the dirt on me........for some unknown reason.........and I'll keep giggling hysterically.....because I think I'm pretty damn funny.

Could someone inform that mental giant and wordsmith Fuzzy that PENN STATE is not in OHIO?

Welcome to In The Sulky Eljay. Many of us here are either in the sports as owners, trainers, grooms, or in my case, a broker. I trained and groomed horses for 22 years before entering semi-retirement as a casino dealer in Las Vegas. Yes I miss the horses every day of my life, but this site and my brokering keep me somewhat involved.

We also have many bettors here that I believe want to learn what being around horses for a living consists of. From time to time we have about as good a group of handicappers as you will find anywhere.

Hopefully we shine some light on the business, despite Amy's and my bullshit posts. Mainly we just have fun here. From time to time some folks post some serious things that cause people to actually think, but have found that most of the time many of our members would rather drink or enjoy illicit mariquana....or both.

Enjoy! thumbsup

fuzzy ,

Where is my old horse idunno

Ryan Anderson claimed him just before 2003 and when we boycotted shipped him to Greg P. , he would not sell him back to me and these people (listed below) were the last to see him and you said they don't remember noway
It's hard to forget a horse with a knee the size of a 16 inch softball.
I know he made his way down to Mexico and they wouldn't even call me about it back in 2003.

Mo doc n
I had friends of mine ask Ratford flat out what happen to the horse since I new damn good and welll I would not get a strait answer and the answere he gave was he couldnt remember the horse.
Which I have asked high and low and i have no answer from any other than the same one i keep getting no one remembers your horse. Am I surprised they didnt call you no and just shows me all the more how bad and disgusting the inhumane treatment of so called horsemen in every end of the racing industry really are. What do we expect a race track that hires  golf ball theifs and lets them claim horse while working for the race track and then doesnt half one ounce of compassion to call you and say hay you want your horse back before we do the dirty deed of letting him disapear.
this same group gave me a trotter that was so wk he fell off the trailer he was so wk when i ran blood on him immediately the horse was starving to death I was told he wouldnt eat by the crew that had him well i guess they didnt no if you dont feed a horse he cant eat.
I hate slaughter I have been in the harness industry since 2008 and I am so disgusted by the general attitude of putting a horse last. I cannot even beging to tell you how disgusted I am of the percentage of harness horse that are feeding the slaughter train and the way owners are lied too just to get anoher horse down the road to Mexico or Canada for slaughter the industry is doomed until we take a stance against the slaughter and abuse of any of our horses.
I tried Mo Doc n but you see the attitude no one wants to openly tell the stories of how all this is happening.
Your friends here are right Im no mental giant im only here to try and make a plea that all this must stop.
People say how they miss being at the track and around horses.
I only hope some day I would be able to say I sure as hell dont miss all those that turn a blind eye to the covert practises of in humane and un ethical treatment equines have absorbed at every racetrack and at every level.
You have not suffered this loss of your horse alone many have it doesnt make it any better these situations but it has to stop.
Japan  didnt make a call to Kentucky befor the slaughtered Ferdinand .
No call was made to my fellow owner Wendy when a forever home was not found for her horse  Four Starz.
No call was made to Maggie Moss when she donated a Thoroughbred to a rescue organization and her horse showed up at a slaughter pin. This is exactly the covert bull to fill the slaughter trains.
But I for one will never stop.
I feel so bad for you MoDoc and I wish I had a better answer.
but as far as Im concerned the group that didnt call you are no different than all the dishonest juicers and stiffers cheaters that just demise the art of harness racing and in my opinion worse. they have shown such disrespect for horses to the point it is an acceptable practise on the pretense well every one does it !
Mo Doc N not every one does treat used race horses in that way and many of us want it stopped.

Well now, sister, let me tell you something: I dare you to walk into my stable and find a horse that isn't slick & shiney, with a bucket of clean fresh water, a clean stall, and hay at his feet. Look at the horses in the Hollar stable, the Brown stable, the Burke stable, the Tony Alagna stable, the Erv Miller stable, the Williams stable, etc, etc, etc.

Pull your pompous head out of your pompous ass and look around. There are many, many good horsemen in the racing business who worry more about their horses than they do about themselves. Apparently your vast 4 years of experience hasn't taught you much. I guess your right about one thing: You're no mental giant.

Lots of great people in the sport. A pretty large majority.

But the scumbag element is there. And they are some of the scummiest people you could come into contact with.

Back back to the original point. Instead of some of the personal bickering.

Raber yet to enter the horse in another race or a sale.

I have always thought it was his goal to get a decent qual or 2 and quietly put the horse in a sale and make his money.
All the fuss means he cant do that.

Will be intersting to see what his next move is. And if we will even know about it.

Well here is some further information on the topic of this thread.

Four Starz Valley was a good horse in his day. Fred Grant apparently broke and trained him his two and three year-old years. He did very little for the Grant Stable.

As a four year-old, none other than Marvin Raber trained the horse and got him qualified and sold the horse to William Fahy.

Fahy had the horse from August of 2009-May 2010, when he was apparently sold and went to a trainer named Stewart Nemiro, who raced the horse only three times before sending him back to Fahy, who scratched the horse from his qualifier in July 2010.

Starry then moved west to California to what looked like his final destination. Apparently Nathalie Tremblay trained the horse when he broke down in October 2010.

Then the horse was supposedly given away to a good home, but I have learned through my Amish sources that I was sadly mistaken about how many times he had changed hands after Ms. Wiener gave the horse away. He went through 5 different Amish owners and no less than two different Amish sales, one in Pennsylvania and one in Mt. Hope, Ohio, (and not Sugarcreek as I said earlier). I do not know why I said Sugarcreek because I spoke with one of the owners of the Mt. Hope sale and he told me the story as he knew it before I posted my due diligence.

Anyway as I said earlier, Ms. Wiener never tried to designate the horse "Pleasure Only" with the USTA until after he qualified, according my source at the USTA.

I also learned that Raber contacted Ms. Wiener both on the phone and through his attorney on more than one occasion and she apparently did not want to pay the training bill for the horse she claimed to own. Thus Marvin Raber's attorney took matters into his own hands and according to Ohio lien law, Mr. Raber now owns the horse.

As far as the horse's condition, all I know is that he will race soon. He is not lame, he is well taken care of (according to my sources), and he has gained a whole lot of weight since Raber got the horse.

With all this being said, I understand Ms. Wiener feels like she got screwed by the person who took the horse and agreed to give it a good home, but the way I see it,  Marvin Raber has done absolutely nothing immoral or illegal in this matter. Fuzzpants and Ms. Wiener are mad at the wrong person if they are mad at Marvin Raber.

Now the horse may stay sound forever or may break his coffin bone again...or may colic and die tonight-only our Lord Jesus knows. I do know that Bill Fahy had a horse break a coffin bone three times many years ago, and he came back and raced.

Hopefully several people who have been bickering about the horse will see the Light and stfu about Marvin Raber. He is a friend of several friend of mine and though I have never met the guy, he is ok in my book.

Libel written by Fuzzy on Raber:

With that many damn animals on the freeway bet you the sorry SON OF A BEACH has a puppy mill at home .
Marvin you have to be so damn inbred if you married your  cousin it would be an outcross. You common SOB.
Marvin Raber the horse industry raper. YOu common ass korn holn crap hell has no hiding place you sick SOB. We are all lookn for you now every horse you own will be found no matter where you commn inbred ass hides them or moves them.. dont the sorry inbred bastard can read.

Apart from the atrocious spelling, grammar and word choice (and the libel) it's funny that before she started firing stones, she forgot about the glass house she lived in...

Fuzzy you do know that the trainer that Wendi Weiner employs, Nathalie Tremblay has had positive tests in the past for drug violations? One on old Arch Nemeses. She's also been involved in hidden ownership, and was stupid enough to go the judges about it: http://www.chrb.ca.gov/Stewards/Minutes/Minutes_Cal_Expo/Minutes_CE_12_01_29.pdf

Plus she was front and center vouching for a guy who was admittedly cheating, taking money to go in the tank. http://www.chrb.ca.gov/board/board_decisions/Decision_RB_10_01_15.pdf

So that's Wendi Weiner's buddy and trainer. Maybe you should start one of your tirades on her. Hell maybe that's the connection from the horse to Raber... In fact wasn't it her trainer that advised this retirement home in the first place? She's already proven she's mixed up in drugs, shady deals and shady characters... Your hero Weimer sure picked a beauty to train her animals. Do you "aprove" of her choice?

Dave we are not here to engage in a pissing match with fuzzy or anyone else. She does not have even the slightest clue how many hours I actually spent researching this matter, nor how many people I actually talked to about the matter. She has probably heard from exactly one person, who is probably a friend of hers.

Now I do not know Ms. Wiener at all, nor do I know Marvin Raber. I do not know Nathalie Tremblay, though I do know she is a very good horse trainer, as is Marvin Raber.

I assume all the people involved are good people. Now miss fuzzypants is more than likely a good person as well, though she is extremely gullible if she believes the horse was designated "Pleasure Only" in 2011. That was not the case in any way, shape, or form according to the USTA. Had the horse been so designated before Ms. Wiener gave the horse up, such a designation never changes, period, also according to the USTA.

Now, Ms. Wiener could not possibly have known what the lady named Linda would actually do to her horse, and if she did, she would never have handled the matter the way she handled it.

I bear no ill will toward anyone who loves horses. Matter of fact, it is common knowledge that In The Sulky has supported New Vocations Horse Adoption  for retired horses, as well as the Christian Harness Horsemen's Association for many years. (By the way, Tracy Brainard bought our donations at at least one auction benefitting New Vocations.) The problem is, every t must be crossed and every i must be dotted if you want your horse to remain retired forever.

And by the way, Nathalie Tremblay standing up for a guy who made a mistake was also a very good thing to do! I congratulate her for it.

I didn't start the pissing match, but if you're going to write the things that this person wrote about a man she doesn't know about a situation she isn't fully briefed upon, than she should be prepared to take a little back. Especially when everything I posted was actually factual.

As far as Tremblay sticking up for a guy who took money to go in the tank.... I have no time for that at all... The guy admits he took the cash, the only reason he's sorry is that per his own admission he doesn't have any other skills that would transfer over to the real world.  To me that's just apologizing because you got caught, and to let him back in does nothing to protect the best interests of the betting public.

That's my opinion though, and I didn't have to resort to libeling the man. Unlike some other mostly illiterate people here.

Why have we all not been informed as to the identity of the  person who was given the horse originally?
You have 2 clowns championing the cause of the original owner and trainer, yet they won't name who the horse was given to. Why?
Of the 2 clowns, 1 is a blithering idiot who cannot write a coherant sentence, the other is a suspected drug trainer from NY.

Marvin Raber was denied entry of the horse he illegally obtained Four Star Valley.

This is a horse that was designated PHO(Pleasure Horse Only) and was donated to what was believed to be a good home. Through some criminal act the horse was moved to Ohio and then sold through an Amish sale. The buyer was also the seller...

She is in to go at Batavia on Sunday and we need your help to stop this horse who has a history of injuries and was deemed unraceable by a licensed veterinarian.

Also Marvin Raber is the same fella who put a couple hundred animals at risk and caused there death in the following story.

Why would a casino offering gambling to people offer this to?
It seems distasteful.

The horse has been cleared to race by the OSRC, the Valley View vet clinic, and the state vet. Why do you assholes think you are smarter than two vets?  Bunch of damm busy bodies. I hope the motherf**ker races and makes 100,000.

If I owned this horse and was prevented from racing him after the OSRC, two vets, and the state declared the horse ok to race, I would get him out of my name and send him to the nearest slaughterhouse and have pictures taken of him being slaughtered, skinned, and butchered, and then post them all over the internet.

Maybe then these assholes would stfu when they don't know what they are talking about.

The horse was not illegally as you dopes have suggested. Keep listening to the  NY dog trainer / ex moderator that has started a story based on a pack of lies.
Hey Doherty, go take care of your rats, and your horses too. Don't worry about a horse that doesn't belong to you. Marvin Raber saved the horse's life. Star was in horrible condition when he obtained him, half starved to death. The original owner dumped the horse.
The big question is who was the horse given to. Why hasn't this person been named. Something funny going on? Doherty and her friend from Cali better take a good long look in the mirror and stop calling decent horsemen thieves. The original owner from Cali dumped the freaking horse. If she was so concerned she should have kept it.

The HORSE was freely given.  Were not the papers held electronically?  The "pleasure only"  desigantion was placed on the electronically held papers long after the horse was freely given.  How can you lemmings continue to state the horse was stolen?

My first post here.  Closed my account at another site several years ago and wouldn't go back at the point of a gun.  Have witnessed Fuzzy's verbal attacks on other posters tolerated and encouraged because her uninformed opinions matched the moderators.  Found this site and am impressed with the apparent pragmatic understanding of the horse business.

Could someone inform that mental giant and wordsmith Fuzzy that PENN STATE is not in OHIO?

Funny how the gripper has turned this thread into complete trash.   Just like his father and Sean Campbell.

Total f**king dogshit.

Bar me if you want.

Marvin Raber is a worthless human horse thief.   He took advantage of a situation.   A good person would have turned the horse over to its original owners.   Not bought the horse from himself in a damn hillbilly amish auction.

What a freaking joke...it is undefendable.

If she gets to race on Sunday and she goes down and kills someone, how will you feel?

Like the trash you are...regardless 4 months to heal a coffin bone is impractical and impossible.

Look what the OSRC says about the matter. Now I doubt this will silence you idiots, but at least you will be informed idiots now.

As I said before, I would not be the least bit surprised if this horse never had a broken P-3. Only a total idiot would disagree with the veterinarians (not one, there is an "s", morons!) who have most recently examined the horse.

As I have said, Old Gary D. is a journalist. I find out the real truth about stuff, not some bullshit that some dumbass said on an internet forum. I have never met Marvin Raber and would not know him if he walked in this room right now. I have never met Wendi Wiener and would not know her either. I have no stake in this matter whatsoever, but right is right. Marvin Raber bought this horse, he was not designated as "Pleasure Only" to the USTA until after the horse had been sold several times, and this is according to the USTA who would be happy to tell anyone that asks the answer to that question.

If I were Raber, I would be suing anyone who attempts to prevent the horse from racing, and suing them for a whole lot of money. If Ron Burke were training this horse, his bill would now be in excess of $30,000. If Ms. Wiener wants the horse that badly, I am fairly certain Mr. Raber would gladly sell the horse to her a little cheaper than that.

You people who want the horse retired so badly should all chip in a few grand each and  Mr. Raber would possibly sell him to you and you can do whatever you want with him. He is probably sounder than the majority of $10,000 claimers and below that are racing today.

By the way, I will be forwarding this letter to Batavia Downs as well.

Good post. Why is it we still don't know WHO the horse was supposedly given to first, and WHAT that person did with it?
The Doherty chick from NY who broke the story was so adament about putting the blame on Raber. Why? Who is she protecting? I think it was all a big smoke screen to protect the person the horse was given to. I smell a coverup and my opinion is that this Doherty broad plotted right from the start.

Seriously why race this horse?

Maybe its legal etc etc.

At best at this point its borderline ethical. If ethical at all.

You shouldnt have to run from state to state to try to drop your horse in.

Anyway it is what it is. And I did what my conscience told me to do.
I will be suprised if he races this horse anywhere.
If he does good luck to him.
Title: Re: help stop horse theft.
Post by: LVGaryD on August 10, 2012, 07:19:22 PM
Why would he not race the horse? Because it hurts someone else's feelings that they gave the horse away and now he returns to the races? He owns it, if the horse trotted in 2:00, the horse has to be pretty damned sound, and a P3 fracture is something that often heals itself if given the correct amount of time. I'm thinking this is more about hurt feelings and embarrassment than anything else.

I certainly would race him. As I said, I don't know Marvin Raber at all, but I do know I would have been racing him since the day he qualified if he was my horse. I learned long ago that horses come back from far worse injuries than a p3 fracture. Hell that is not even that serious in most cases.

Nothing unethical here whatsoever.

I get that maybe he has a right to race the horse.
But its really worth all this?

Title: Re: help stop horse theft.
Post by: LVGaryD on August 10, 2012, 07:56:23 PM
It would be if you owned the horse. Many northern Ohio horses race at Batavia because the purses are over double. I raced there many, many times when I worked for Don Irvine. And ask yourself a question: how lame can a horse be if the guy wants to race him on a half-mile track for good purses? Think he wants to take him there to be embarrassed?

I would love to sit behind this horse myself and report to the world just how sound he is.

What part of the pack of lies don't you get? Why is this SCUMBAG named Doherty protecting the person the horse was originally given to? What happened from there?
All that has been told is Mr. Raber forged somed paperwork, which by the way is another Doherty lie. The scumbag scanned and posted an electronic registration and claimed Mr. Raber forged Wendi's name. Show us all the signature, thats what I say.
PLAIN AND SIMPLE,THE HORSE WAS DUMPED! A FORMER JEALOUS OWNER COULDN'T HANDLE IT WHEN THE HORSE MADE IT BACK TO QUALIFY. THEN AND ONLY THEN DID WENDI STEP UP AND SAY IT WAS TO BE DESIGNATED A PHO. TOO LATE, YOU LOSE, YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE DESIGNATION ON A HORSE YOU DO NOT OWN, STICK YOUR REGISTRATION PAPERS UP YOUR BUNGHOLE WENDI.

Raber failed to notate the animal cruelty from NJ on his NY license.
He is done, maybe time for McDonald's.

Nice of The Gripper to continue his campaign of slandering good people trying to look out for a horse...

Raber is 100% wrong, this is no jealousy, it is fact.   Wendi owned the horse prior to the phoney amish sale...Raber ochestrated the sale to illegally obtain the horse.

Minus the 8 ball of crack comment, that is a legitimate question. What is the identity of the person to whom the horse was originally given? Why will no one name this mysterious person? How did the horse get from that person to another?

Who was it given to and why did that person get rid of it? None of that matters to the liars and do gooders, their only concern is to slander an innocent man by calling him a horse thief.

I thnk people are waiting in each state to complain whereever he goes.

Ive had some minor contact with the woman on FB.
Seems liek a nice lady who only cares about the horse.

She never made a dime on the horse and if she got her back now she wouldnt make a dime again.

Otherwise good afternoon all!
Have a great weekend.

Amy, driving at what 115MPH? Not five hours either. It IS all Freeway/Thruway. 228 miles. 3 1/2 maybe hauling a trailer. But actually only 15 miles farther than Lebanon would be.

I forgot Buffalo is the closer one.  thumbsup

"WE"? You and the BTW and Horseplop minions? Is that the "we" you are referring to? The "we" that fabricated a story fueled by lies and half truths.
The questions remain the same. Who did Wendi give the horse to, and Why? Were drugs somehow involved?
You and all your minions can GSAC. I've read before that you do that very well.

The horse is a mare, making her a SHE...

"Hi would like to try a value meal today?"
Why are the idiots calling Four Starz Valley a she? She must be the first female gelding ever.  Dumbasses don't even know what you are arguing about, and you are supposed to be credible?

I wish I had the recources and the time to be a  Magnum PI on this and get all the facts 100% correct.
Might even be a book in it.

Not much bickering here can do. We will all be monitoring the horse now if he ends up in a sale or racing and that will be that. Hate seeing well meaning people bicker.

I m ordering you a badge Gary.

So you don't know all the facts, yet you are calling racing office's and telling them that the horse shouldn't be allowed to race??? WTF. How about you mind your own business? What if "everything you read" ,that you believe is true, is completely and totally false? Then what? Are all the people, like yourself, going to come on here and apologize for making a complete ASS of themselves? Of course you won't, just like the Peta asshole's. Don't know what really happened but scream that you do! Comical at best.

Great point Grape. The whole story begins at the point the horse was originally given away. Nobody knows exacly how Mr. Raber obtained the horse, but the minions see no problem in telling lies and half truths to try to fill in the blanks.
It all wreaks very badly of a cover up with Raber as the fall guy. Were drugs involved?

He knows all the facts because I told him the facts, but he also has been told a lot of bullshit by someone who supposedly knows the "facts", and her "facts" only serve to put her into a more positive light than if this horse goes on and wins a lot of money.

And oh yes, the horse is cleared in Ohio. Let them protest and waste all the time and energy they want to waste.  dorkusinterruptus

And yes, I know exactly how Mr. Raber got the horse. He bought the horse after it had already been sold several times. The funny and ironic part of all of this is that the horse could easily have wound up in a can or a lion's pen, but Mr. Raber saved the horse from death, and now they want to screw Mr. Raber.

It's really not hard to find out the facts. Just call the USTA.

Nope just calling around and posting on places like Batavias FB to make sure the horse gets scratched.
And he did.
Working on Zanesville now.

Unless comes to MD though jsut a hobby for me. Not much more I can do.

I do recomend you try some of the other forums for a different "take" on this situation.

Still waiting on the great state of ohio to allow him to race. Its been over a month now.

I can also give you the number for Zanesville if yuo want to call.
And then the next track etc etc.

Dear 3ww,

In this thread you called me a piece of shit and an internet tough guy.  You offered to fight me and I said I would meet you in Pittsburgh... which is about halfway and you changed the subject.  That is all fine and I don't care how you feel about me.  However it is comical that later in this thread you are whining because someone called you an idiot.  People have told me in the past that I come across as never wanting or admitting to being wrong, and I have always accepted the fact that I am not always right.  Perhaps it is time for you to mature some and realize that other people may know more than you about a subject and allow yourself to admit to being wrong, and you are basing your opinion on emotions rather than facts.  You just may be a happier person at the end of the day.

Cheers,

Jeremy

Gary is a 3rd party in collecting information.  Do the people giving you your facts have any personal attachment to this horse?  If the answer is yes they are not as credible, just ask any auditor.

In my opinion, I don't see how you can be against a horse racing for the welfare of the horse but then be a supporter of horse racing in general.  This horse is probably healthier than many other horses out there.

3W,
I know you are very sincere about all this and I admire your passion in advocating that horses get the best possible care.
I think we all do.
But many of the simple facts in thsi matter have been completely either messed up accidentally or lied about on purpose just so certain individuals don't appear to be wrong.
(Those types are never wrong)
I guess my initial question is why did the original owner get rid of the horse to begin with?
If she cared so much about the animal, she should have kept it.
Lots of misinformation about why the horse was scratched etc;
Giss who is totally credible to me posted the facts about the scratch.
The scratch had nothing whatsoever to do with Raber but with the racing 30 and 45 day rules at each state involved.
Now a good friend has told me that on plop your compadre on all this, the dishonest and reprehensible javelina is calling for violence to come down on Raber. Disgusting but typical of this loser.
My suggestion is to get as many facts as you can from credible sources and go form there.
I see people are calling the Zainesville office to complain about the entry.
Well sorry to say but I've been in contact withseveral other posters from varios forums who are doing the same thing but telling the racing office that the horse should race.

As for your treatment here, I think a few are totally out of line and I'm surprised such vicious vulgarity is allowed.
That is totally wrong.
When posters can't argue and discuss facts, they get personal.
They are losers. Never really seen that kind of poster allowed here for any length of time.
I know you're a good guy with a determined mind and heart.
But I say it pays to know the whole story before going off with half the story and urging action.
To be associated with the certain poster who is calling Raber a thief etc; is to risk your own good reputation.
Take care and good luck.

Im being a good Samaritan...for the horse and the original owner...

Quote
The parable of the Good Samaritan is a parable told by Jesus and is mentioned in only one of the Canonical gospels of the New Testament. According to the Gospel of Luke (10:29-37) a traveller (who may or may not be Jewish[1]) is beaten, robbed, and left half dead along the road. First a priest and then a Levite come by, but both avoid the man. Finally, a Samaritan comes by. Samaritans and Jews generally despised each other, but the Samaritan helps the injured man. Jesus is described as telling the parable in response to a question regarding the identity of the "neighbour" which Leviticus 19:18 says should be loved.

Portraying a Samaritan in positive light would have come as a shock to Jesus' audience.[2] It is typical of his provocative speech in which conventional expectations are inverted.[2]

Some Christians, such as Augustine, have interpreted the parable allegorically, with the Samaritan representing Jesus Christ, who saves the sinful soul.[3] Others, however, discount this allegory as unrelated to the parable's original meaning,[3] and see the parable as exemplifying the ethics of Jesus, which have won nearly universal praise, even from those outside the Church.[4]

The parable has inspired painting, sculpture, poetry, and film. The colloquial phrase "good Samaritan," meaning someone who helps a stranger, derives from this parable, and many hospitals and charitable organizations are named after the Good Samaritan.

rflmao1 rflmao1  If you read the letter I posted yesterday here, the OSRC had prevented the horse from being entered due to the misinformation that has been spewed all over the place. Now the Ohio Racing Commission has had vets look at the horse, the owner has had the horse xrayed umpteen times by different vets, and the OSRC has now cleared the horse to race, based upon the recommendations from all of these veterinarians.

The fact is, this horse has not been classified "Pleasure Only" by the USTA. Ms. Wiener attempted to after she learned the horse had qualified, or just before he qualified, but according to the registrar at the USTA, then it was too late.

The fact is, had she done this in the first place before she gave the horse away, the horse can never be taken off the "Pleasure Only" classification.

I have all of the pertinent and independent facts, not from Ms. Wiener, not from Marvin Raber, but from the USTA, the OSRC, Batavia Downs, Standardbred Canada, and one of the owners of the Mt. Hope Livestock Auction.

The rest of the stuff really does not matter. I know what the law in Ohio is and I know the horse is cleared to race in all of Ohio. I know the registration says Marvin Raber owns the horse. I only hope I get to meet Mr. Raber, shake his hand, thank him for saving this horse's life, and maybe even sit behind this horse in a training mile in September so I can personally attest to his soundness.

I used to walk/run between five and seven miles at least 4 days per week. I'd give my left nut to be able to do that again. I love running, and at the present time I cannot do this, but I am trying to be able to do it again. I would do anything to be able to run even a ten minute mile again. Running is in my soul.

You see I have a shattered leg that was not only screwed together, it was glued together as well. There is a fourteen inch titanium rod in the leg. I also need a new knee. On the same leg, I had a broken hip in two places, and I have sciatica the entire way down my leg to my foot. I broke seven vertebrae, four ribs, and suffered a traumatic brain injury, a lung contusion, and a spinal cord injury. Guess what? I can run if necessary. Not fast, not far, but I can run. I know this because I ran on a treadmill. Oh yes, I am 55 years old and weighed 279 pounds this morning.

No I am not in race shape and will likely never be, but if I can run even a little with all of my injuries, there is no reason that a horse that was bred to race cannot race with a pesky little broken p3 that has had completely healed....and hurting someone's pride is not a valid reason.

I truly speak for the horse. I know he would rather race than pull a plow or a buggy, or be slaughtered.

But I say it pays to know the whole story before going off with half the story and urging action.
To be associated with the certain poster who is calling Raber a thief etc; is to risk your own good reputation.
Take care and good luck.
Burton, I have more respect for you than you could possibly imagine. Was I wrong with what I posted? ABSOLUTELY! Someone needed to give those clowns a taste of their own medicine. The lies that they are force feeding down everybodies throat is sickening.

The even more unbelievable fact is that you have 3WW championing the cause of the same ass clowns who tortured him on horseplop. You think he would get it by now.

The whole GSAC phrase I have been using was coined by you know who and I just thought I would throw that back at them.

My actions were reprehensible and I am sorry. Sometimes you need to fight fire with fire.

I still want to know why everybody is overlooking the facts of who the horse first went to and what that person did with the animal.

Although I am sorry for my behavior, I will not appollogize to 3WW, he is spouting off 1/2 cocked with 1/2 of the facts and could do irreverseable damage to a man's honor and career based on a few ignorant postings of a few ignorant posters.

For the record while I don't always agree with 3 Wide, he's always been a gentleman and in my opinion a good person doing what he feels is best.

Ditto. Have had the opp to meet him in person a few times. We disagree on this, but can discuss our differences respectfully without name calling.

We are done with this. Four Starz Valley has been declared in condition to race by the OSRC. I wish his owner Marvin Raber the very best of luck. To anyone donating a horse, please do so properly to avoid this kind of situation. The idiots who are trying to prevent the man from racing his horse need to go catch a case of the crabs and then go get a life. With morons like this on the loose, it is no wonder Obama is our president.
