In the first at The Meadows Driving God/ Mad Man Miller got carried to the quarter in 26.1 with Schoolkids by Mike Wilder and Dreamlands Art. The pace was what he chose to make it from that point on and he chose to hit the half in 54.4 and then buzz up the back in 26.4. Dreamlands Art overtook Schoolkids at the top of the stretch, as the latter ran dry but still held on for third.

The quarter and half I completely understood. He was hung two and three wide from the start to just before the quarter, where he slowed the horse down. The 1 and 1A were smoking off the gate.

Now anyone who has ever sat behind a horse knows that when you get one wound up going a quarter that fast, you cannot simply pace a 30 second next quarter....you would probably choke the horse down.

Then the #2 pulled going up the backstretch so Brett got after his horse about the 5/8 pole. The horse paced 1:50.2 and actually hung on pretty good.

If you look back to the April 17th line, Dave Palone drove the horse basically the same exact way in a lower class and won. Had Brett not left, he'd have gotten away last. Had Wilder not ran him to the quarter so fast (and they were going a quarter in 25 seconds until Wilder turned Brett loose), he might still have won the race.

Had Brett gone to the back, Wilder would have gone to the half in 57 seconds or so and come home in 53 seconds, Brett's horse would have gotten no money. As it was they got $2700 after getting smoked. Just tough when you have the outside and the entry is inside in first and second position.

You got to tell us this stuff ahead of the race.  So he would only have paid $38.  I can't follow every track in the country!!!!!!  And, that one I  almost never look at anymore.  4pezz2 4pezz2 4pezz2 4pezz2

Let's see, Charlie Norris gets this horse to go in 1:56.4 at Tioga Downs last start. Today he has the rail at The Meadows, first time driving god Miller in a race that should go in 1:57.

How does the horse pay $5.40? Everyone who had a ticket paying $5.40 should go to jail for a felony theft charge.

No, I did not bet the horse. I cannot bet The Meadows legally in Nevada.  4pezz2 shootme

Well driving god "B." Miller is definitely the second best one of the three Millers mentioned. B dioes come before A sometimes.

But there is one huge difference. It won't take Brett as long because he wins a lot more races. I love Griz, but he is no driving god Miller.

Foiled came within a nose hair of beating Cheddar in the Des Smith. McNair carried Brennan some at the start with Aracache. They hit the quarter in 26.2. Miller was first up with Foiled at the 3/8 and took it to Cheddar up the back--third quarter in 26.2. Miler had Foiled lapped on Cheddar during the second half, and he had the momentum during a final push, but didn't quite get there. The mile went in 49.4, a tick off the TR. Cheddar was 1-4 from the five and Foiled 8-1 from the seven, with a horse scratched inside of him.

What a mile Foiled Again went!  slaphead And Brett won with Adventurepan, giving him two wins and two seconds for the weekend...and about $5000 in his pocket.

And none other than Yannick Gingras said they stole the race from Brett tonight, that it was at worst a dead heat if Foiled Again did not win it outright. Someone else on the thread said he thought Foiled Again won the race outright after seeing the win photo. Agreeing with Yannick was Simon Allard, along with everyone else on Yannick's Facebook.

Pretty bad when even the Canadians can see that driving god got screwed.

Hey Rideau Carlton judges, this one's for you:

And after watching the replay several times, there is no doubt, driving god was hosed! This is not the first time Foiled Again has gotten the shaft in Canada in a big race.

In real time I thought Cheddar may have held on, but after they replayed the finish and showed a still I thought Foiled got him. Agreed, at the very least it was a DH.

And the driving god is back! Here is a little known fact for horse bettors everywhere: when Brett Miller is off for more than a few days, he nearly always wins with a longshot. Fact!

Oh my. Driving god Miller has won four of the first eight races, including three $20,000 Stallion Series races.

My buddies Tye "Choppy" Loy and Dean Davis own Blizzard Warning, one of Brett's Stallion Stakes winners.
