Thank you for doing what you do and the care and commitment you portray to every horse in your care.
It's you that keep me around, make me smile, and realize this game has a lot of heart and soul.

I couldnt agree more. I think the problem many of us have is that we simply fail to give the much deserved credit to the many horsemen who work long, hard hours, and really do it for the love of the animals and the game.
Many take a negative view these days, but the simple fact is that these guys are up early working a very tough job---many battle long cold winters just to get an old claimer to race each week for two minutes. They deal with the never ending aches and pains and injuries that these horses deal with. It cant be easy.
Yet we take these guys for granted and Im glad Javelina started this thread because it sabout time we recognized the hard working, caring horsemen who do so much to keep these animals healthy and racing. I think we just forget about that so often and assume these horses just go out there and race every week. Its a lot more than that.
Actually it takes a lot of hard work behind the scenes, by so many dedicated men and woman doing a tough job, and battling so many unexpected occurances. I think it's something we should always remember when we watch them on the racetrack each week. They deserve all the credit.

Jeremy, I assure you not trying to start a thing.
I take a hardline on the bad guys and sometimes I get blind bridle on and forget that 95% of the players are straight and narrow.

Hey, just to get in between you two. Horse people have always been the best people I've met on planet I live on. Even Thurm Tackett. Pissed off a lot of adults, but was nice to children & Pam's the best. His death was posted in an edition of Hoofbeats. He deserved it. Loved the horse business. Rodney King died today. Can't we just all get along?

He was only 47 & was last seen drinking & smoking a lot of pot. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Funny thing I read about Rodney, the article I read said he "was extremely intoxicated and at some point he had smoked marijuana that day."
So I suppose they will blame his death on the pot? A dude is drunk on his ass, then smokes some weed, then decides to go for a dip in the pool?
I'm thinking the weed was long worn off, because I have heard that weed makes people want to get couch locked? Just sayin' I heard that somewhere or something.
I have a very close friend who adores weed and let's just say this close friend is not going swimming after smoking some good weed. Period.

I wish there was someway that all racing fans & bettors could spend a day or two around a working stable and see what's involved in keeping a horse fit for a 2 minute race each week. And, witness just how much we horsemen cherish the horses that keep us in business.
It would dispel alot of misconceptions that some people have. That's why I always liked the half-wall paddock at Sportsmans. When the public can see everything they don't imagine that skullduggery is going on.

Most people when I was a kid had other jobs, & just did it because they loved it as a type of hobby. The Farrington's & some others were a completely different story, but I swear, it was mostly people who did it on the side back in the 60's and 70's. Am I wrong? Most of those people had other real jobs, at factories and such. They just loved it enough to try and live their dream.

Hot tub? + Alcohol? + Pot? = DEATH!!!!! I know that wasn't the case, but you should definitely heed this statement.

rflmao1 The more horses and the fewer people you have in your life the easier it'll be.
Horsemen in rehab would spend all their time plotting an escape.

Horse folks are a different breed than what regular America has to offer. They're way better than what I see in "corporate America". They don't lie. They are good, hard-working people. Not what you see at Wal Mart every day, &, what's best, they're not full of shit, like most Americans. They see what they see, voice their opinion, and face the consequences. They seem to be more capable of taking responsibility for their actions. Just my opinion. I could be wrong. Not usually.

I have top admit I chuckled at this. Nothing wrong with a hard line on the bad guys, but you have at times appointed yourself judge and jury on some horsemen. If 95% are straight and narrow, then don't the other 5% deserve the innocnet until proven guilty tag>
