Title: OT MLB all star voting
Post by: Jeremy on April 30, 2012, 09:48:05 PM
Baseball starts all star balloting too early into the season.  Maybe they would get more people that deserve to be in based on current season performance rather than prior year performances as starters if they waited until at least 45 games into the season to open the ballots.

The voting is dominated by the mega-populated East Coast.  All Yanks and Red Sox are on the AL team no matter what.

Hal is partially correct. The ballots are stuffed at parks with teams that fill the stands. The more fans, the more voters will vote for their favorite players on their favorite team.

If my Indians or Hal's Cubbies filled the stands every game, more members off those respective teams would be all-stars.

The Cubbies have filled the stands quite nicely for a long stretch of years until dropping off last season. The problem is most fans aren't even aware that there is a game going on or even aware of such a thing as all-star voting.
