Walking back to the state barn.......he's pretty high strung after a race and St Calvin always yells at the kids if they don't put a lead shank on him.......well, guess who didn't put a lead shank on him?

One night I won with a filly at Blmpk so she had to go to the spit box. Back then they didn't have the big paddock so you had to go to the ship-in barn 1st. I told my stepdad(RIP) to stay with the filly and I would go back to the barn and get all our equip and come back, so we could just load up out of the paddock.

Well, she peed right away and he decided to lead her back to the barn.(almost 1/2 mile) She always was hard to lead so she pitched a fit in the big parking lot north of the paddock. He pulled his belt off to use as a leadshank and his pants fell down! Now this heifer is spinning around in circles and he's hanging on with his pants down to his ankles when I pull up with the rig. I saw the show in the headlights and was laughing so hard I couldn't help him for a bit. That was a popular family story from then on.

I'm guessing it was Calvin himself, and please let him know that I would not have put one on any horse going to the spit box either! Do as I say, not as I do!!!!
