McGibson Sets National Season's Mark In Meadows $25,000 F&M Pace
WASHINGTON, PA, March 8, 2010 — McGibson powered to a front-end score in 1:52.1, fastest mile this year by a 4-year-old pacing mare on a 5/8-mile track, in Monday’s $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Pace at The Meadows.
As she did in her victory last week, McGibson vaulted to the lead for Dave Palone, cutting a wicked 26.3 first quarter. That blazing panel did little to tire her, though, as the daughter of McArdle-Armbro Althea fought off the stern first-over challenge of Tracys Song and closed in 28.2 to defeat that rival by a length. Spring Break was a ground-saving third.
Kevin McDermott trains McGibson, who now boasts career earnings of $217,608, for Fran Azur. Palone, Tony Hall and Brett Miller each drove three winners on the 15-race card.
