Wow Dolfan you are quick to call anyone who disagrees with a "bigot" I think if anyone is a bigot around here it is you.  Agree with every demand of so called "gay rights" groups or you are a homophobe..  As for scientific proof that gay people are born that way, there isn't any.  No physical difference has ever been proved between people of different sexual orientation.  Sure, pro gay groups have comissioned studies to try and prove it, but that is not how the scientific method works.  You state how younger people are all in favor of gay marriage.  Is it any wonder with the bombardment by the media that this is true.  So, go ahead and enjoy your name calling.  I will not stick my head in the sand and will continue to state what I think is right.  If you don't agree, fine.
It is obvious we will never agree .

According to Merriam-Webster, a bigot is:

"a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance".

That defines your position, not mine.

Scientific proof: There have been many studies with mixed results but let's use some logic.  Teenagers KNOW that they will be laughed at, made fools of & generally will be miserable, particularly boys yet they still make that "choice"?  Does this make sense?

While I do agree that for some, maybe 20%(?) it is a choice but for the large majority, choice absolutely defies logic.

I also agree that you are free to speak your mind & beliefs and do whatever pleases you that does no harm to anyone else, including using illegal drugs or alcohol in your own home.  But where we clearly differ is your disbelief that EVERYONE deserves the same, regardless of age, race or sexual orientation.

You do realize that only a few years ago, in some states, "sodomy" (anything other than vaginal sex) between 2 consenting adults in the privacy of their own home was illegal & police had the right to enter a home (I assume with a warrant but don't know that for sure) and make arrests?

When I hear the argument about no scientific proof of homosexuality I have to laugh........that is just as silly as saying there is scientific proof of heterosexuality............. idunno...............how you do scientifically prove someone loves another?

By the same token........how can someone think a person would "choose" to be gay?  One tries to "choose" the path of least resistance in life don't they?

I don't want to get into the name calling but I am curious as to what Hal thinks makes a person "choose" to be gay.

Their parents?
Abuse?
Or just over all deviant personalities?

Amy all people have homosexual and heterosexual urges.  At least that it was I was told in the many psychology classes I took.

Dolfan, you can call me a bigot as many times as you want but it is not the case.  I don't agree with you and never will agree with you because you don't
make any sense.  Many years ago when I was in high school, most gays were in the closet.  There was one gay guy in my homeroom when I was a senior.  I was one of the few that would talk to him, sit with him at lunch and even go out for a smoke with him.  (yes, we had designated smoking areas in those days.)  On day some a-hole sucker punched him.  It was me who put the bully on the ground and made him say uncle.  Because I don't buy into every gay rights demand does not make me a bigot.  People like you who can't stand anyone who doesn't kiss their ass when they state their opinion is much more of a bigot.  That's it.  No sense carrying this on for 10 pages.
have a good day.

For the record........I don't consider you a bigot Hal.

I think this is a generational view point as to where we both stand.

I'm just glad to see people able to live their lives with out shame for who they love.......whether gay, straight, black, white or hot Asian in Gary's case.

Sure is funny how the "tolerant" people resort to name-calling and character assasination the minute someone offers an opposing opinion. I was accused of being a bigot and a anti-semite here once... but I'm pretty sure my two black God Daughters would disagree about their Uncls JS, and my very best friend would also take exception, even if he is a Jew.

Trying to label others to win an argument says way more about yourself than anyone else.

that was after profanity when it wasn't called for.

Not sure how someone can say they are tolerant of a group of people though when describing their work experience as 'had to work with them'

Gay marriage I don't find disturbing at all.  What I find disturbing are people that lust and make comments about what they would like to do to women that are young enough to be their grandchildren.

Here's one for you: I don't agree with Hal that homosexuality is always a choice. In fact I think that it is seldom a choice.

Guess What? He's still a good friend of mine and he doesn't deserve to be tagged as something he's not because he disagrees with you.

I just love the "Tolerant Ones"... who are always intolerant.

Hmmmm... Now I'm confused. I just agreed with you that I don't think homosexuality is often a choice, in fact almost never. But you still want to disagree with me.  idunno

Damn! Tough crowd tonight...

Here is my disagreement..............I think I am a "tolerant one" and the only thing I am intolerant of is Gary's hugs.
