A lesson to be learned!~!
« on: February 06, 2012, 01:30:08 PM »
Happy 101st Birthday, President Ronald Reagan!

Today we celebrate the 101st birthday of our 40th President, Ronald Reagan born in Tampico Illinois on February 6, 2011. Elected in 1980, President Reagan inherited an economy with double-digit inflation, 20% interest rates, declining real income and a 9.5% unemployment rate. Honoring his pledge to reduce the size and role of government, President Reagan enacted sweeping government reforms including across the board tax and budget cuts and promotion of a strong dollar. Two years later, inflation and interest rates dropped and by the fall of 1983, the economy was creating a million private sector jobs a month. The U.S. economy grew 7% for five straight quarters and we experienced 25 years of nearly uninterrupted economic growth.

Compare the Reagan record with that of President Obama, whose big government philosophy has saddled the U.S. economy with massive debt and hyper-regulations of every aspect of American life. In the three years of Obamanamics, Americans pay twice as much to fill their cars with gas, our homes are worth less, we are paying more for health insurance and virtually all Americans have a friend or a family member that is out of work. I think you are correct.  Although I did hear this reference made several times.. Gas will hit $5 by summer according to most.

Obama has been a lousy president, but to say gas is twice as much than when he took office isn't true.  In 2008 it was over $4 a gallon several times.

While it was high in 2008, gas prices tumbled along with the stock market, housing prices & the economy.  The statement though is true.

Yeah those high gas prices coincided with 4.5% unemployment, a deficit under 10 trillion, which is still absurd & a housing market that was still holding up.  You really need to be more honest with yourself & others.

This is coming from a registered Democrat who hated Bush.  But Obama is far worse!

you should have realized long ago that when it comes to the political threads I just troll you guys.  I gave a serious opinion on my views a long time ago and people dismissed them and laughed and all that other garbage.  Gary said many of the same things a year or two later and those same people said he should run this country so now I have a hard time taking these threads seriously

I don't recall the thread you refer to Jeremy, but my political views have always been consistent. Socially liberal compared to most conservatives, but ultra fiscally conservative compared to all liberals.
