The driving title race for most wins is really heating up. Aaron Merriman leads today by just one win, this after leading Ronnie Wrenn Jr. by as many as 25 wins earlier in December.
Both of these guys can really drive a horse, and for Wrenn to be even close despite having over 1300 less drives is simply amazing.
Many would say that Ohio does not have a great driving colony, but I would say those people are full of shit. When you consider Ohio has Josh Sutton, Danny Noble, Chris Page, The Griz, Merriman, Wrenn, Tony Hall much of the time, Randy Tharps, I would argue that Ohio has the best collective set of drivers anywhere outside of the Big M.
I believe Wrenn will probably develop into one of the best in the sport, once he learns to stop over driving horses so much. At any rate, this race gives me a reason to watch Northfield and even Sports Creek until the race for most wins is decided.
