Meadow Emerald, the 4-year-old pacing mare which had shown an inexplicable break while leading into the stretch at Delaware the week before, won both heats of the 20 class pace and brought forth an explanation of what happened in Ohio. It seems she swallowed a sparrow while heading into the home lane at Hank Thomson's establishment.
