How?
« on: August 08, 2013, 05:47:36 AM »
8/6/13, Hoosier Park, Race 12. Exacta pays $942. 21.9 shot gets 3rd & pays $11.40 to show. Tri pays $510.40. How? Never seen that, ever.

Likely a dollar (or less) payoff on the Tri.

The exacta's in the 13th & 14th on same day also paid more than the Tri.

Wilderness. I know sometimes tri's pay less than exactas, especially when favorite comes in 3rd. My point is that, in this instance, the 3rd place finisher was 22 to 1. Look at race 6 on same day. Exacta pays $672, a 58 to 1 shot gets 3rd & tri pays $8,663.65. Only a 10-horse field also. Mine had way longer shot winning in an 11-horse field & a way bigger exacta payoff. Should have been at least a similar tri payoff, and I would say probably more. I've been betting over 35 years & have seen some weird stuff, but this one's ridiculously peculiar.

Many thanks Jeremy.

So that Tri's for the 12th, 13th & 14th are four times the posted price. At least on a $2.00 wager.

 NOT less.

So my $2 tri paid $2,041.60. That's still one-fourth or even one-fifth of what it should have paid.

Here's a link to the Indiana Racing Commission I'm sure they'll be all ears when you explain to them how you were cheated in a pari-mutuel pool.

so you knew that it was a .50 payoff but you misled us into thinking that the exacta paid more for the same $ wagered?

With the pool being $16953 before takeout all it takes is someone betting $3 or $4 to change the payoffs.

Didn't know payoff was based on .50 ticket. I didn't hit it. Was just making an observation. Thanks all for clearing everything up.

Exacta came back long. Should have been around $600-650. Tri should have been $7K ($1750 on a $.50 ticket). Can anybody get the pool size for the tri on that race (8/6 twelfth) and we can easily see  how many winning dollars of tickets there were.
