I've no clue.

The horses name was Highland Alberta and the time frame was 1943-45

The buildings look like some I saw in The Bronx 40 years ago.(only time I was ever there) I noticed every horse in the pic had a big fat shadow roll on.

       "The Bronx" hasn't held any racing since the early 1900s.
Closest thing to it would have been the old Mineola track behind Roosevelt, and Mineola didn't look like this.

This is a Midwest track, or at least my best guess.

Then my 1st guess be one of the Chicago area tracks that I'm not familiar with. You and Michigan Dale have referred to some that I never heard of, but I'm a poor historian. I get a kick out of seeing these vintage photos.

Great old picture......seems older than the oldest of us on ITS.   Seems folks did forget.....JS - I'm thinking!   It looks very 'cityish' and that's puzzling......yep we sure did talk about some auto racing tracks didn't we!

Hard to remember the '30s & '40s when I was born in the '50s. It was fun remembering the heydays of midget racing with the likes of AJ Foyt, Parnelli Jones, Jim Hurtubise, Jim McElroy, The Unsers, Roger Ward, Eddie Sachs, Rick Kinzer, and the legendary white #1 of Mel Kenyon.

I HOPE you don't think I was around in the 30's and 40's!   Right you are about those heydays of auto racing, JS!   I met AJ once, interviewed Hurtubise and (Bobby) Unser, and Mel Kenyon I had the privilege to announce and interview many times at many tracks over the years.....seems if its got Horsepower, either under the hood or between the shafts, we like it, right JS?

You guys hijacking my thread to talk about freaking midgets

 When I was a young boy (1950s) and the next street away from my parents (the streets still were NOT paved then), there was a guy who raced midgets.

 During the week he'd be working on them and occasionally would bring one out on the gravel streets to make sure it was running o.k.
 For a while the cops chased him, then the cops got smart and just waited in his driveway for his return

          There are getting to be fewer and fewer old-times to rely upon for these mysteries.

 Joan Cruise, Stan Bergstein and many more are gone.

 I sent this Doug Ackerman (even though I haven't heard from Ada Jean in some while), since he raced the early days in Indy.
 Hope they reply, as I'm sure he'll know.
 Last year I sent them a summary with one of his Dad's horses at Indy track and he recalled almost every horse in every race.

Apologies for the hijack, but I have the attention span of a gnat. If I hadn't mentioned it immediately it would have been gone into the ether of other shit I forget. 

AJ Foyt was an ace with a midget, and had a Texas size personality. Mercurial temper that could go from zero to 60 in a heartbeat. 5 minutes later he'd hand you beer, give you a bear hug, and tell you that you had the most beautiful kids on the planet.

Hadn't considered Indy or maybe Detroit. Don't know if there were any tracks in the St Louis metro area. Sure looks citified.

Wilderness (Don) is right, we sort of sidetracked the thread a bit....my apologies!  I won't way hijacked, that nonsense goes on elsewhere.....you see though, JS and I and probably others do have this thing about horsepower it's obvious! 

Now, back to the good old pic and solving the mystery........

I think there was an old track near Cleveland that was made into a shopping center maybe 50 yrs ago.  I don't recall the name of the track.  I also know there were a few old tracks around Boston.  I don't have any pics of any of them so I'm only guessing.
