Sound Familiar?
« on: November 30, 2011, 09:08:18 AM »
In 1979 America had a weak President that made excuses for the success and prosperity of our country, and blamed it for the woes of other countries. The Iranians thanked him by storming the American Embassy in Tehran and holding holding American citizens & Marine guards hostage for 444 days. (I'm a friend of one of the Marine hostages)

Now, 42 years later, Iranian mobsters have done the very same thing to one of our long-time allies, Britain. Whenever western nations show timidity to their foes, this is response from our enemies.

I wasn't at all surprised whether it was Carter or Obama. The day Reagan was inaugerated, the Iranians released all American hostages because they didn't want their asses blown-up.

Except that is not the case this time or they would have stormed the US Embassy again. Britain acted strongly (more so than any other of our allies) by seizing/freezing millions in assets, didn't they?

Therre is nothing left of our embassy in Tehran left to "storm".
The U.S. embassy in Tehran has been occupied by the iranians since the hostage crisis in 1979.
American interests in Iran are being handled by the Swiss government/embassy.
After the fall of US interests in Iran the former embassy has been used for a number of purposes including a training center for their "Revolutionary Guard".
You can be pretty sure there is tyranny in the country when the government pleads the fifth

The Iranians and the Russians wouldn't stand up to Reagan.  They don't fear what Obama might do in the least.

Giss, I can tell you this: My Marine friend spent 444 days mostly blindfolded and handcuffed to a chair, except to be trotted before the cameras to denounce the US... which he did.
But unbeknownst to the Iranians, he was sending secret messages to his superiors through an elaborate code system he had been trained to use.

He caught hell for being a traitor to his country until the truth came out. Now there's a picture on his desk of himself and President Reagan in the Oval Office, while he was being awarded all kinds of military medals.

As a side note: He is convinced that one of the hostage takers was was a very young Mahmud Ahmadeenijad.
