I was stabled next to Shelly at Pompano Park. One hell of a trainer!

Rick Plano is without question the best lame-horse trainer I have ever known.

Pena is a great trainer. Whatever anyone might allege, it has never been caught. What they nailed him for is something every horse trainer I have ever known has done since the beginning of time: having the vet treat his horses with stuff the vet knows will not be caught.

You knew winter was over when Gentleman Jim Dennis returned to Chicago.  Always had good classy stock.  He trained the first standardbred that I owned and claimed off him.

I'm not saying he isn't, what I am saying is when you go in and claim off of anybody and make 99%

of your claimed horses go 2-3 seconds faster than anyone else did and win at 40% and above you're

asking for trouble. Just ask Pena. I think Pena got a raw deal but he was training Herrera's horses

until they booted him then GGH took over right where Pena left off. They may just be the greatest

trainers or horse whisperers or put jalapeno peppers up the horses ass but whatever they're doing

the bubble will burst someday, just ask Joe Anderson, Brian Pelling, Eric Ledford, Kesmodel and many

more that have been there.  idunno

Pretty good but IMO that's like comparing Barry Bonds to Babe Ruth.  idunno

This is a forum. If we don't talk about stuff then it's just a blank page. We come to forums to discuss, if

we don't discuss then we have a blank page and if we have a blank page then we have no forum.

His father I think

Bob Farrington had a brother named Rick, also a trainer-driver.  Of course the brother could have been named after the dad,  Thought the Farringtons were from Ohio.

Richard Farrington (Dick) is Rick's Dad.  Brothers to Dick: Rod,  Bob an  Brad,   Sisters- Sue Carpenter & Sis Pew.  Papa Farrington was Louie Farrington.  Went to school at Rushsylvania Ohio with my father in law.  My sister "was" married to Sue Carpenter's son.  My grandfather rented an apartment to Bob and Viv at one time.

When I was there in 1982-1985 with Rick Plano, I remember James Grundy, Ross Croghan, Robert Gordon, Roger Stein, Brian & Brett Pelling, Jim Todd, Robert Johnson, Glen Holt (he married Annette Funicello). At that time Lou Pena was a groom for Gary Baker.
