Nice article on good guy, James.  Don't see him post much anymore, but he has made it out to a  few ITS Balmoral outings.  He's a pretty good handicapper too!

Right on, Hal!  I'm also pleased to report that James will be announcing the races (and possibly doing some of his music) at the Ottawa County Fair in Michigan in July this year.  Home of the Wolverine Futurity.

I remember when he was trying to break in.  He would call every race he saw.  Had a big collection of colored highlighters to mark the program just the way he wanted.  Practice makes perfect.  He worked hard at it.

James still uses those colored hi-liters, Hal!   He also brings his binoculars and a stand to prop them on.....he does a lot of homework before calling the races.   Gotta give him credit for that.

James one day went up to the top of the stands at Aqueduct to call races in the freezing cold on his tape recorder, then brought them to my house and critiqued his own work. The man is constantly working and honing his craft.

He's a great caller and even a better friend and any time he's in New York he's welcome to stay with my family.

Great guy.

Thanks, all.  Been quite busy lately, between calling races at two tracks, the organ trio, and writing, and juggling a personal life in there somewhere too, but all's good.
