Worst Slump Ever
« on: July 27, 2012, 04:12:45 PM »
I am in the midst of the worst slump I have had since I started betting horse races more than 40 years ago.

The worst beat of this slump came today at Saratoga. I had $200 to win on a Rivelli/Dominguez horse at 3-1, he took the lead at the top of the stretch, opened up 2 to 3 lengths and then 20 yards from the wire the horse he passed at the top of the lane came running back up the rail and beat him. I think at this point you could put Royal Delta in a 3 claimer and if I bet a nickel on her she would lose.

My gambling bankroll has dwindled to almost nothing, maybe $400. Any suggestions on strategies to break the slump and get headed in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Right now my play is limited to Saratoga, Del Mar, Arlington and the Meadowlands. Maybe you have a strategy for each or something that blankets all three. I mostly play win bets but will play a Pick 4 if I can find a single and only have to spread 3 to 4 deep in two of the remaining 3 legs.

This one will make you slap your head.   Got a tip yesterday to play a horse at Arlington.  Nic the Quick.  Should be vastly improved and worth a bet.  idunno  Storms rolled thru last couple days, I have no computer connection.  Had a bitch of a day getting anyting done, had to do everything at least 3 times. and I had to race at ScDns in 4th so had to leave early. Horse makes a break ( my sire stakes filly)  :-\ forgot to charge my cell phone so when i get home ( electric and internet back on)  finally i plug in my phone and have a zillion messages.  Pulled up the results for Arlington  Nic the Quick  $80.20,27.20,15.60.  4pezz2   hammerhead1 Tomorrow can only be better, can't get much worse than this.  idunno

Yep Beans that is pretty, no extremely, bad.

The way the West Coast 3 yr olds dominated the triple crown races this spring I think they are just better up and down the list. Throw out IHA and the west coast colts are still right there in the top 3 spots of each race.

I am going to play the Baffert horses, Liaison and Paynter if the prices are fair. I have to get more than the 3-2 on Paynter.

I like exactas in both of the races also. With Liaison I am using Neck N Neck. With Paynter I will use another from the left coast, Nonios. I have taken the stand that the Wood was a poor race and that Alpha and Gemologist have been considerably overrated.

Charlie when my gambling bankroll is running low which it usually is, I simply take out a large cash advance on one or more of my credit cards.

Then the next day I take another advance or two (I keep five credit cards). If all goes completely bad, I file bankruptcy. So far I have only filed once and am now all clear to ile again, but I hate to do so without at least $60,000 on credit cards.

If in a bad slump, take a break 1-2-3-4 weeks or whatever.  Can do a lot to clear your head.  Sort of like a pitcher with a tired arm, a little rest and good as new!
