I find this disturbing.  anyone else?  no class.  no common sense.   I really don't like Christie.  Who is really the "big shot"  My republican relatives are rolling over in their graves.

Christie has zero chance.  He has made himself totally unelectable on the national stage.  Forget him.

Rubio also should not be picked.  He will not help win Hispanics over.

I'd say the front runner is Rob Portman.  The logic here is Romney must win Ohio while he will win Florida with or without Rubio.  Paul Ryan would be too easy of a target for the left, Pawlenty is a bit of a snoozer which leaves Jindal & Portman.

Prez candidates always do a secret "scorpion dance" over veeps. They claim they want the best veep candidate who could take over if necessary, but are careful not to get anybody that might show them up. (e.g., Joe Biden.)

Regardless of party, anyone who strives to be POTUS is an egomaniac... it just goes with the territory. And their egos can't stand to be upstaged. They chose running mates that make them feel "safe" but still help them get votes.

Jindal has done a good job of rehabilitating himself after that dismal State of the Union response a few years back. But Mitt does not need the Swamp People. He needs Ohio. Portman.

Dolfan, I know you are talking political realities here but this kind of reasoning drives me nuts.  If you're looking for someone who has spent his political career avoiding becoming a target of the left, that candidate, by definition, would be incapable of governing as a conservative.  I am so tired of playing defense, that is, worrying about how the left and the media are going to treat a potential Republican candidate.  Ronald Reagan must be spinning in his grave.

I love Paul Ryan because he talks numbers & logic, which makes sense to me.  But my opinion remains that he is an easy target for the liberal media & Romney will not win with Ryan on his ticket.   Some of you were backing Rick Santorum & well, you know how that ended.

I would love to see our country add a monetary position - strictly monetary, an elected official who would control all fiscal
policy - a CFO to work with the president & Congress.  I am a fiscal conservative but a liberal socially & have been calling for a CFO since 1989.  Paul Ryan would be the ideal candidate for that job.

Personally, I'm a Herman Cain fan, but that didn't happen. I would really like to see a business man in the Oval Office, versus a lifetime politician. This country needs a leader who can actually count... so much income, how do we spend it.(and not a penny more)

I would love to see Paul Ryan appointed to a cabinet position and given free reign to apply his expertise to fiscal matters. We are headed down a road to fiscal disaster under current leadership.

I like Marco Rubio or Bobby Jindal for veep. Both seem very electable to me, although I don't think people ever actually vote for veep.

I felt the same way too - about a businessman, although Cain was definitely NOT that guy for me.  But when you consider that as soon as the President is sworn in, he finds out the REAL story on security threats which are constant, the battles in the mideast, China, North Korea... I've come to the conclusion that the President must be a savvy politician.  Not Obama who is just a nasty politician!

Trouble with Rubio is he has limited experience & the thought of his extreme right wing social beliefs are a bit scary for most of us.  I don't see how Jindal helps getting Romney elected where I see exactly how Portman helps.

Natalie Portman?  More people could identify her than the Ohio Portman.   Rob Portman I don't know a lot about him, but if he could carry Ohio for Romney,that is a plus. I aqgree with JS that most people don't make their mind up based on  a  VP candidate.  But in a close election, it doesn't take much to swing things one way or another.  How in the hell can this be close?  Obama is the worst President in my lifetime.   He should be crushed by any legitimate candidate. My biggest concern now is, How am I going to protect my assets against an Obama victory in Nov.?    A recession 3 times as bad as the one we are in now will be just around the corner. Hyper inflation can't be too far away either.
