I remember when Red Auerbach had a press conference to announce the signing of Larry Bird. Bird said he would have played for the Celtics for a lot less. Auerbach said, "I wish you'd have said that earlier!" Everyone laughed bigtime. Red struck me as a guy who enjoyed life, tho I know nothing about him.(or the NBA for that matter)
