This(the new rules) had to of been written by a Tbred person.
The naming of the 1/4 ,7/8 3/4 pole and so forth.
They are named opposite in each breed.

I don't mean it is your mistake Elgin I mean the NJRC. How can the NJRC be so foolish as to have the harness racing rules spelled out in TBRED wording.

I absolutely HATE rules that are open to interpretation! "approx 6-8 strikes"... well which is it? "Above shoulder level"... from what camera angle? "excessive"... by what standard? A whip was always the most underused piece of equipment in my stable, but sometimes very necessary.

My rule would be: You slash one up to the point that he comes back to the paddock with welts and bleeding after the race, it's your ass... big fine + suspension. (and the owners and/or trainer get's a free pass to kick the snot out of you) But I don't like rules that judges can adjust from one driver to another.
Somewhere in Kenya a village is missing it's idiot.

None of this is a problem if they also determined that stiffing is okay!  :o

Love the word approximately here 4pezz2. 6-8, which means 5 to 9 is good. If 9 is good, why not ten? Can they get any more convoluted?

The whipping rule for weekday racing, when the race is not a stakes or late-closer and the moon is full, unless that full moon is the second of the month, shall be...

Hey under the proper conditions, my whip expands to well over 6 inches...or at least it used to.

I say give the drivers whips made of licorice.  That way, when they throw them to some kid, they could eat the whip, not run around swinging it wildly the rest of the evening.

I'm not sure what you're saying.

If you're not allowed to drive your horse as hard as possible then the driver is accused of stiffing.  I know that's an exaggeration but if a guy has to actually count the times he's whipping is he supposed to stop nearing the wire to avoid going over the limit?  And then track mgt calls him in for not trying his best?

But I was being sarcastic anyway.

My God, that is massive!  Uh oh, I guess now you know I'm Jewish.  dorkusinterruptus
