The days of judgment of the transgressor against the trotting laws of the sport are at hand, for it is the time of year when Justice Polishes up her scales and takes the malefactors in hand . . . so far, a number of the gentry have found themselves behind the eight ball, stiff fines and setdowns, being the order of the meetings . . . and we wonder now that the principles of clean sport have been established by the USTA for several years, and should be understood by this time,. . . how much longer it is going to take the chiselers, gyppers and similar cognoscente of the trotting underworld to realize the days of the NTA (National Trotting Assoc) and the ATA (American Trotting Assoc; both pre-1939) are as dead as Sitting Bull and no longer will the acts of rapine and murder against the sport as of their time be tolerated . . . why not come clean and save those fifty?dollar assessments and long?time set downs that follow misdemeanors against clean sport and sportsmanship.
