Didn't see anyone I knew for about 15 minutes, so I walked over to the paddock gates. Lo and behold, the first person to recognize me was Tim Tetrick-and he doesn't know me by name. What a nice guy he is!
Next I saw Freddie Grant, and he had a hard time until I told him who I was. We were stabled next to him in 1977-78 in Florida. Needless to say, both of us have aged...a lot.
Finally Bruce Sturgeon and Tony Hall talked to me for quite a while. Yes I harassed Tony about his suspension, then smugly admitted I probably would have failed it as well. Tony is a great guy-I empathize with him getting the suspension, which is really b.s. He has a golf ball sized infection in a tooth or his jaw, and took a percoset. Of course he got popped for a positive that night. Trouble was, he didn't have a prescription for it.

This is a guy who has not had anything in 13 years, and they nail him at Northfield, of all places. Good thing they can't drug test visitors.

After that I ran into several more people I know. Had a great night and did not wager a dime. Did I mention that I love Lexington?
