From the news clips and video about the High School, they show the whole barn area and there is/was another horse right next to her buy the feed tubs.  That horse seems to watch her a lot and at times you can see its ears in the shadows.  The whole set-up seems great for the students and learning but for birthin'   idunno

The whole donkey squad -- can you see the male .... me neither !!

Thanks guys. This mare is pain in the ass sometimes to get along with but I  Love this mare.( even if she did dislocate my elbow  >:( )   she has had some setbacks here and there but always comes back.  she is $1095 shy of $100,000 life and she has never been healthier.  Looking forward to racing her thru the summer.

Show YOU 'da money -- Congrats and keep 'er going !!

Friends of mine have a cattle ranch and they keep burros on the edge of their property as a deterrent for coyotes.  They have two beautiful white-beige mares that are about 9 - 11 Hands tall.

Their neighbors have a lone male (brown in color) that is very small and stocky; he is 6 Hands tall at the most.  Lo and behold, the little dude routinely crawls under the fence to "visit" with the mares.

Can you guess what happened next?

I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' no babies but ....

Isn't it unnatural to expect a veteran broodmare to foal in a stall with just one or two walled sides in an open-type setting that is lit with fluorescent lights 24 x 7 ??

Don't get me wrong -- all for the school and what they're doing but is this "normal" or "okay" for the mare?

I'm confused.

Looks like it is going down now.  But, They have taken her out of the stall. 4pezz2 4pezz2 4pezz2  Just from the chat I've deduced that.  They mentioned a leg poping out.

There did appear to be a weird leg-like bulge near her left hind quarters this morning -- not popping out, popping out (if ya know what I mean).  That chat blows -- 100 people a day ask how old she is, what is her name, is there wax pluggies yet and when will labor will be induced.  It is a trip ... the mare has got a brood broad audience.   ;D

FWIW, my inquiry was the result of somebody from there, lurking here ;)

If you are seeking old school Vernonites, we may be able to help (1970 thru 2000) ... gets fuzzy after that.

There always seems to be a backlash at BTW when **** melts down and perhaps it is because of old battles and extricated BTW posters.  Miss J is a good egg in my book as she has handled the onslaughts from 1995 onward the best she can.  Do I agree with what is allowed now vs. years past .... ABSOLUTELY NOT.  But I appreciate the challenge.

Out-with-the-old and in-with-the-new ... things change and if Harness Racing or Mid-west Racing 'aint your priority .... be gone or don't fret about it !!!

I'm glad I am not the only one hooked on watching -- got up thru the night to check occasionally too.

Is it raining like the dickens there, at the school?
