Thanks to Gord Young for the link.

This a nice head-cam view of a race at Western Fair, Ontario.

Very Nice! We played with some cams during our fair a couple of years ago to make a promo-video. They turned out well, but we ended up mounting the cams on the bike shaft also, so if the driver turned his head we still had a straight shot of the action we could splice in.

They should make one showing what it's like driving in the slop... you can't see sh*t! When you see a driver bang into somebody in the slop it's because you can't see where they're at... at times you're just driving by ear. That's why the judges give a lot of slack when it sloppy.

Pretty cool!  So that's what it looks like when a horse doesn't get up to the gate!

That's the 1st thing I noticed too. rflmao1
I always liked to be the 1st on the gate with most horses, then when the others come up behind me, my horse gets on the muscle and pushes the gate on the way out. Then you get to decide whether to go or grab, instead of letting someone else decide. Every driver has his own style.

I liked this better than the simulator at the Harness Racing Museum.   ;)

I was injecting hocks on my pacers ALOT. Years ago I asked a very successful trainer if he had that problem, he said, "Not since I quit using half-swedges."

When I was "brought out" you were told that you always put half-swedges on a pacer, behind. The horses we train now are sooooo much purer gaited than they were years ago, so, many times it's much better to leave their natural gait alone.

In the history of harness racing, there have been other drivers who have experimented with less sophisticated head cams.  rflmao1

Lockjaw, could you Photoshop the homely guy out of the picture and enlarge the rest of the pic? I'd really like to look at the camera without the distraction. It's kinda like a car wreck...you have to look!
