In The Sulky congratulates ITS member and 2011's leading trainer, Ron Burke. Ron lead all trainers in wins, winning 797 races and well over $18 million in purses for the second consecutive year. This is the first time in history anyone has ever won more races as a trainer than the leading driver won as a driver. Burke also sported a very respectable UTRS of .343.

Would say that bowdown .343 is a hell of a lot better than respectable.
Congrats to the Burke Brigade. bowdown

One can assume that the emphasis on keeping four-year-old stallions on the track will manifest itself in more opportunities for aged horses in general, and this bodes well for Foiled, WTW, Westwardho, Hugadragon, Atochia, Meirs and the rest in the Burke barn. Having six entered in the Indiana Pacing Derby is no doubt something they would have liked to avoid if there were more opportunities to race for good money elsewhere. Let's hope Gural and the powers that be at WEG put together some sort of a viable circuit for aged horses.
