Title: Maywood Handle - Friday 1/2
Post by: old and slow on January 03, 2015, 07:23:08 AM
$960,248

Not bad for our last night for a few weeks.  Was hoping for a million. I have a hunch the bankruptcy judge will be looking at our handle numbers.

The next 2 nights at Balmoral should go over a mil.

Mags and I will pump up that handle tonight.  Make sure you turn off the lights tomorrow before you leave.
Hope everything works out.  Would we have any reason to doubt the integrity of the Judicial system here in Illinois?   Ooops, I forgot it is the most corrupt in the country 4pezz2 4pezz2 4pezz2

Funny how Zocali mentioned on TVG that the M1 EP4 pool was unusually large on Fri night with little explanation. Seems pretty obvious to me that Woodbine being dark on Fri benefited M1 and perhaps even Maywood as well.

Saturday Card handle : $1,010,546

Sunday Card handle : $694,564

The weak M1 cards Friday and Saturday likely drove up those Illinois Handles ss folks looked to get bets down anywhere.   I feel bad for the handful of decent characters in Illinois racing but they are outnumbered by the indecent people and that indecency unfortunately starts at the top with the track owners.

I don't know that the indecent out number the decent.  Most all of the Balmoral Horsemen I know are good people.
Like in any area the bad folks get a lot of notoriety.  All tracks have good and bad  about them.  While many have already left for greener pastures, there are many who really can't leave.  Hope things work out for the best.

Careless Hal you are right I could have and should have stated that better.   As far as raw numbers the good guys outweigh the bad 8 to 1.   The issue and reason for my comment is the balance.   So many of the big names left in Illinois have major blemishes.   Top trainers starving horses, top drivers beating women.   And as I am sure we all know that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Despite all of this both facilities have been able to mantain strong handle support.   I believe only the Meadowlands and Mohawk/Woodbine beat them or hang close.
