Finally will be able to get a decent meal! It is to be located by the Casino Royale on the strip. The article said it would open in November, but as far as I can find out, it hasn't opened yet.

Pretty sure there was one in vegas in the 80s.

I am fairly certain there never was a White Castle in Las Vegas-at least according to a VP of marketing for White Castle.
I think I've told the story that I promised him for the low price of $1,000,000, I would drastically better his marketing campaign. He begged and begged me to tell him for free, and I finally did.
"Think of it....a tv screen with several pictures of White Castle burgers with this headline: 'Constipated? Eat five or six of these babies and you won't be constipated for long." I explained there were many variations he could use like, "Eat five or six of these. They are much tastier and far more effective than Metamucil."
He turned me down and replied that my idea was not the image the company was looking for. He did send me a White Castle rolling cooler, a deck of playing cards, a White Castle golf umbrella, and best of all, a Crave pack that never expires. thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup

Had to go to White Castle for lunch. Had four sliders and a med. fry. They do not give me the trots. Maybe I should have bought extra to give to some trotters at Balmoral that have a hard time staying on gait. Come to think of it,I've never seen a horse eat a hamburger. Has anyone? idunno idunno

Your able to buy them all over the country in the forzen food section. (six pack).
The mistake that people make is by following the instructions and nuking them while their frozen.
If you thaw them first and then just warm they are nearly the same.

Actually I am eating them as we speak. Four so far, but thinking of nuking two more. I buy them in 16 packs. Usually they last three meals. I put a paper towel on them and nuke them for 1:30 for four sliders. Then 15 seconds with no paper towel. I then add spicy mustard and tabasco sauce. Within an hour, I will be going to the toilet.

I'm told the In-N-Out burger is similar to White Castle. Are they tiny too? I think I'll give it a try when I'm out Gary's way in a few weeks.
White Castle - now we're talking good eats laddies. thumbsup
-
They are more like Mickey D's or burger King, but much better. Not as good as Whote Castles!!!
-
Hal, you need to stick to handicapping the horses.
In-N-Out Burger is in a league of its own vs. the other joints, including White Castle.
-
In-N-Out is possibly the best burger on Earth.

too much variety on the castle menu nowadays
things were best when the had nothing but doulesliders and greasy fries and a large chcocalate shake

Yep, had one that loved burgers and hotdogs....buns and all the fix'in.
-
Personally never had trouble with the "trots" from White Castles. I attribute that to my very wise parents who saw to it I had White Castles as a toddler, thus providing me the immunity/antibodies to the "White Castle trots". I'm very grateful as that allows me to eat the tasty little buggers while on road trips.

I agree. I only get original sliders. No cheese. No Bacon. No chicken
Fries were not greasy, nice and crisp and super , but you have to eat them while hot.

Amen to that! In-N-Out is the first thing I reach for when I travel west! And yes, Hal, stick to capping horses and not burger joints!

Best hamburgers are ones cooked on a charcoal grill.
-
Don't forget to order your In-N-Out burgers animal style, you will not go back!
-
Love White Castle. But In-N-Out Burgers are aptly named. What say you on Five Guys? I may becoming addicted.
-
Giss, tried Five Guys once and didn't think they were worth the hype or price.
Next time you're in the Chicago area, try a burger at Portillo's.
-

I like Five Guys, if you are in North Olmsted don't fall for the hype of Brown Bag Burgers or you will be disappointed. The thing that makes me laugh about five guys is that their wall is filled with awards of when they were named best burger, but none of them seem to be in the last five years.

In '72 I went south for a year.
There's a similar burger Krysta'ls (http://krystal.com/). It was pronounced to me (in a southern dialect) as Krysh-tals.

Last In & Out burger I had was Sept 17 at 11:37 AM. I'd rather have a culver's butter burger or a steak burger from Steak & Shake. Of course, we are talking fast food joints. For a really good burger I would go to Wildfire in Oak Brook. Portillo's has decent stuff. The local 5 Guys closed up after about a year. I had a Krystal's years ago, not as good as real sliders. My son loves In& Out, I think the young ens just have not developed
thier palettes enough.

Krystal's suck.....big time. thumbsdown

Culver's really seems to be expanding in the IL/IN area. Have heard good things. Remember my first Krystal, Atlanta area. Pickle and mustard standard. Was not expecting the mustard. That trip was also my first Sonic (over-rated). Now they are everywhere.
-
You can't go wrong with Culver's butter burgers but their Fish sandwich - it's either cod or walleye - is the best thing on the menu.
Same thing with Portillo's. Lots of people won't want anything else but their burger, but the Italian Beef - an acquired taste to many - is pure Chicago.
At Inn-N-Out Burger, that's all they roll with and they keep it simple. Haven't had a bad service experience with them ever. And great people-watching too, especially at the store on the UNLV campus during lunch time. They're #1 in my book.
-
I'm at Culver's every Saturday afternoon after my daughter's dance class - her choice because the kid's meal includes a cup of frozen custard. Anyway, I agree that the fish (you're right, it's cod but occasionally they offer walleye) is excellent. I also like their fried chicken - 4 pieces with mashed tatters and green beans plus a dinner roll for like $7.50. I haven't had a Culver's burger in a while, just ordinary to me. The pork tenderloin is good too.

Wings! Was at Buffalo Wild Wings Tuesday night to see Eddie Olczyk and Pat Foley, the Hawks TV announcers. I don't like their wings at all. Hooters is better. At least the beer was cold. Chatted with Eddie about his work on the network horse racing shows. He is a good handicapper and actually gives out some price horses. I got a Koozie, T shirt, and cap from the Bud Light girls. At Hooter's, all you get is an eyeful .
