Daylon Miracle overcame a sloppy track and a tough first-over grind to win the featured Preferred Handicap trot on Saturday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The race carried a purse of $25,000.
Leaving from post position #2 in a field of seven as the even-money favorite, Daylon Miracle (Pegasus Spur-Daylon Marvel), a 5-year-old mare trained by William Bercury, sat fifth for the first half-mile of the race. It wasn’t until the back stretch that driver Brett Miller set the mare in motion and took aim at pacesetting Coraggioso. In the stretch, Daylon Miracle took over and held off the closers by three-quarters of a length in 1:56:1 on a sloppy track. Money On My Mind rallied for second while Coraggioso faded to third.
Daylon Miracle won for the sixth time in ten races this season. It was her 18th career victory, pushing her lifetime earnings to $310,003.

Miracle has been a wonderful experience for the Bercury stable.
We purchased her in December hoping that she would expand our horizons racing in classes where we have no experience. She has performed beyond our wildest dreams. She won four preferreds in a row at the Meadows before she was asked by the race Secretary to take a sabatical. Last week she trotted in 52 2 a fast closing third against the big Boys at Pocono. May 4th she will race in the Distaff trot at Miami Valley against the top girls and from there, who knows. Aaron Merriman has done a wonderful job of "mixing it up" and it looks like she will race anyway Aaron decides to race her. Brett did a super job with her both starts at Pocono. Maybe Renee will let me driver her at a couple of overnights at the fairs. (just kidding)

Pegasus Spur half sister to Daylon Magician. She gets better as she matures. An honest, game mare indeed.
