I talked to him for a bit, he is with his family/friends so I left him to hang with them.

There was a raffle today for the Akron Children's Hospital.  Neither of us won.  There were 7 prizes ranging from a Chrysler 200 to an Apple iPad.  Unlike most drawings that start with the smallest prize and work its way up, this one... with little fanfare announced the winner of the car right away then work down to the iPad.  They also made the guy announce outside in the rain and no one could really hear or understand what he was saying from all the static.

There was also a delay before one of the races where all the horses but one went into the paddock for over 5 minutes but no announcement was made as to why.

If Yeah Baby never wants to step foot in Northfield again or any people that came out today no one would blame them.

Ayers no longer makes picks in between races.  The place has really gone down since Keith's departure.  It is almost like the horsemen deserve to get the cut of the slots but the track itself deserves nothing.

Thanks for stopping down Jeremy, it was a pleasure meeting you....  thumbsup

Yeah, definitely wasn't a great presentation but we made the best of it...  Was better on our previous visits..   Tapped RBT on the shoulder for a Mohawk pick 4 winner and made some money on my own so a pretty good night.. Ate at the Best Gyro as usual so another successful trip. Golf and more golf Saturday and Sunday then on our way home...

Thanks for the kind words, Amy and Jeremy. But, it looks like both Mary and I landed on our feet and are much better off. Can anybody tell me if Bill Seese is also gone, or did he get kicked over to the casino side?

Crazy, but I even skipped the Battle this year.

I have not seen him in 2013.  However I only went once between January and April 15th before I started going almost once a week.

I'm shy

Now THAT's probably the funniest thing I'll hear all day, or all week - "shy!!"

I used to really like going to Northfield and remember the first time dear old dad and I went there on a Saturday night in the late 1960's and parked in the unpaved parking area.....big crowd, close up action.  Loved it....then later in life we raced there, always liked that too expect that minutes til post meant nothing and to pay no attention to it!   In more recent memory I remember The Giss picking me to finish third in a race....we led most of the mile, caught late and finished THIRD at 17-1 beaten only 2 lengths.   Last time we were there was February 13, 2010 (seems like yesterday) when my horse got claimed and that marked the beginning of the end to my not so stellar amateur driving 'career.!'
Sounds like things have really changed at the Route 8 Oval, and not so much for the better.....?

I will actually be there Thursday AM to pick up a cage being donated by the lovely and talented Denise Teeters. PJ Bud Teeters is playing delivery boy to the track. Thanks to the Teeters for the donation.
