The Ohio State Racing Commission has rescinded many high C02 suspensions and warnings. Reportedly a couple of big-name trainers in Ohio threatened legal action against the state racing commission using faulty testing equipment to test samples.
I know people that I would bet a million dollars never milkshaked a horse that got warned and /or suspended in the past few years, and I truly believe most of them that they never gave the horse involved any baking soda. Now we know why-bad testing equipment. 4pezz2
Anyway, kudos to the racing commission for getting something right. bowdown

I have started taking baking soda. I've gone from barely able to walk to now I'm training for the marathon! thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup

At RCR the machine was faulty and spitting out all these pre race positives.
Including some people I know who don't use anything but hay and oates rflmao1
Yes they still exist.
Once it was verified the machine didn't work.
Everyone who got a positive was given 200$ to cover their shipping costs.
Your first wasn't a suspension anyway. So there was no suspensions.
-
You mean a test on which they'll (commission)give you a whole set of circumstances can cause you a false positive? You'd consider that faulty? idunno
I just read the rulings..........looks like they rescinded two of them but I know a couple more I hope get the same treatment....................... to top it all off.............today we find out "depo" which vets in Ohio have been using up to three days out for DECADES is now causing positives, because the commission has changed with draw time with out informing anyone.
Clenbuteral........forget it.............don't even use it in Ohio. 4pezz2
I've been on the phone all day..................what THEY are failing to understand is WE DON'T WANT TO PROTECT THE CROOKS! But the 99% of us who are TRYING to do the right thing TRYING to keep healthy and sound horses on the track need to know EXACTLY what the rules are before we are entrapped into trouble!
It's pretty sad when veterinarians from Thistle Downs to River Downs are basically petrified to treat horses.........treat horses humanly.

A month ago when we were raising a stink over some of these after a rash of positives occurred, I was told they can sue all they want, we are standing behind our test..........we even tried to organize a meeting between the commission and horsemen up here at Northfield and the commission backed out citing legal reasons...........reading of these rulings being rescinded is actually surprising me.

Amy, the rulings I am speaking of will come out next week. ;D

Clenbuterol? Depo? Steroids? WTF...good thing I'm out of the business. I'd be in prison.

Amy,
Welcome to the world of slots enhanced purses.
Just wait till the other tracks get going and the Comm., will raise the prices of their fines as well.
Its happened in every jurisdiction.

One of the worst thing the chemist have done is make the good honest horseman look bad.
90% of whats done is for the horses good. Remember people are tyring to make a living on these animals they aren't trying to kill them.
The big time trainers at the slots tracks with 40 claimers.
I get what that's about. Its why it doesn't interest me at all too.

Amen3WAW, Why oh why do we constantly have people in charge of our livelihood that have no common sense and a chip on their shoulder to "get the cheatin horsemen"Trying To talk to someone on the racing commission is like talking to the old grumpy puppet with his arms folded across his chest and his nose in the air. hammerhead1 hammerhead1 hammerhead1

I remember some years ago on another board, I called the members of the racing comm. clowns and the Stooges. Low and behold I got a call from the head AND MY PHONE NUMBER WAS PRIVATE!!! Surprised the HELL OUT OF ME!!!!
-
They have 'WAY" too much authority(and no common sense about a racehorse period) and it goes right to their heads which are up their assses most of the time.

Dr. Sams (I think his name is) came to Northfield to speak to us (warn us might be a better way of putting it) many years ago about drugs, testing, etc.
I felt violated just listening to him speak. He reminded me of a science teacher I used to have in 7th and 8th grades...so smart he sounded stupid.

Dr Sams was approachable......knowledgeable and at least didn't treat you like you were a crook trying to skirt the system.............he opened the lab up to tours and was very open about everything he did...........he also had his hands tied at times from a near Nazi regime at the commission.............I'd give anything to have him back in Ohio.
-
I might also add.....I believe his advice played a big part in the rescinding of these high TcO2 rulings recently.
-
Many of us felt that he was treating us like criminals. Of course we never cared much for authority figures in the 1970s and 1980s.
