In what is anticipated to be the first step in an ongoing upward trend, Northfield Park has announced that purses will increase 10 percent starting Friday night, March 1.
Although the Hard Rock Rocksino at Northfield Park is still in the early stages of construction, track management is implementing an increase, which is expected to be just the first in a series of increases as the impact of gaming in Ohio, and specifically the $265 million gaming and entertainment facility being built at Northfield Park, is fully realized.
"The best days for horse racing in Ohio lie ahead, and we look forward to opening the Hard Rock Rocksino later this year," said Brock Milstein, chairman of Northfield Park.
"This only adds to the anticipation felt by everyone at Northfield as we await the opening of the Rocksino,” said Dave Bianconi, executive vice president of racing and simulcasting. "Our horsemen and fans have supported our racing for years despite a low purse structure compared to tracks in jurisdictions that have additional gaming. The purse increases that will take place here over the next few years will improve our product significantly.” (Northfield Park)

They need to build fast, the parking lot is a mess.

Giss, are you going to mingle with the common folk on the ground floor since the upstairs is closed until June? Or are you a guest of management?

The purse increase is much needed & an encouraging sign for that pathetic Raceway.
Hard Rock, as in the Seminole tribe Hard Rock? I had no idea that Ohio was giving their money away to this Indian tribe.
Just for your info, the Seminole tribe, which we know allot about in South Florida, is the only remaining tribe to have never signed an official peace treaty with the U.S.A. I guess, technically, we are still at war with this tribe as they rake in the billions of dollars from Americans in gambling money, food concessions & hotels. thumbsdown

My accountant's/IRA manager's (two guys, same company, accountant is actually a long-time horse owner) firm is having a night at the races. It's a free meal and I have a Players Club voucher that expires in April birdienana. Depending on weather, ar least one cigar on the apron is probably called for.
