Heading to pensacolas dogtrack fri nite. Need some angles on the dogs rflmao1 rflmao1
On vacation at my buddy's condo in gulf beach Alabama. Pretty sweet down here.

My Bride and I went to the dog track in Memphis for our only time. It was interesting for a little while. (we sat with a couple of dog trainers that told us a lot about their biz) But it got boring pretty quick for us because there wasn't any race strategy... they just banged out of the gate and chased the mechanical rabbit. I like the angle of the driver or jockey affecting the race. But, I'm not a gambler. Hope you have a great time Cashman.

Box the 2-4-5 in every race. You will make money! If not, I'll feel sorry for you.

ignore times --- they are meaningless
*bet dogs dropping down in class
* if you are real good, note dogs that if they finish off the board in that race, that they can drop down in class --- have a friend that races at Wheeling, a big angle of his.
*take note of track comments if dog likes to race in/out and what post they may have.
5/6/7 dog with speed likely to cut corner and open up on first turn where inside dogs with speed may have lead but not have the same distance lead coming out of turn.

Took your info to heart as I thought I would be at Hollywood dog track on Saturday night, but I see that racing doesn't begin till Monday. May get stuck having to go to Pompano on Saturday night. idunno
Then of course, 2 of my horses draw into races 14 and 16 on Saturday night, and I will be up until 2:30am Sunday morning watching them race! rflmao1 rflmao1

Mr. B, there is always simulcasting whether or not there is live racing & racing does resume Saturday but PPK is the only one in the area that takes CalX. PPK's big night of 9 races usually means a 9:45 finish & by then, the buffet is history so there's the Italian Restaurant or Steakhouse to eat at. Both have pretty decent food. Oh, and Myrons Deli is okay too.

My friend has had some success betting speed from pp 5-8 as suggested earlier. Good thing is there is very little stiffing! Does Birmingham have any pools?

ps Cashman, I've trained several dogs. Problem was they were horses. You eventually learn to stop wasting time on them pretty early on.

Cashman I use to go to Dairyland GReyhound Park in Kenosha Wisconsin when it was open..as far as wagering it goes like this Class and Speed. Class droppers with speed are usually a good wager. Post position is also key as the rail and 8 hole are usually always the best holes while the 3 or 4 hole being the worst. Gimmicks are the way to go wager wise and dogs that are positioned as to their favorite position on the racetrack is a key. So a dog that shows "midtrack" on his race comments will like the 6,7 or 8 hole out of the box and a "rail" comment would show a dog that likes to have an inside pp like the 1 0r 2 hole. There is usually a lot of bumping but if you can figure out who can clear the pack early, you have a fighting chance. Also look to see if the track has any bias after a few races..sometimes the "8" hole stays hot if the rail gets deep..Best Of Luck

Mags, what makes the 3&4 the worst? Do they get squeezed after the start? I don't know squat about dog racing.

If anyone ever visits gulf shores or orange beach. There is this bar on Bama fla border right on the gulf called florabama. Best bar ever! Only like 10 minutes from are condo. Maybe Dolfan has been there?

You definitely nailed everything here. We used to go to Dairyland all the time too. Definitely agree, the 1 and 8 dogs posts are a good angle. You can't handicap the bumping so you try and find the dogs with the least amount of chance to get run over in the first turn.

6:30am flight through Denver to Ft. Lauderdale on Saturday...arrive at 4:45pm. May have to take a nap before I watch my horses. Not sure about Pompano on Saturday. Maybe I will try the Gulfstream casino...can probably walk there from where I am staying. Maybe try the dogs Monday or Tuesday...guess it depends on the work schedule. Or how much pool time I need after work! ;D

Loved Dairyland - great food in the clubhouse too...offered an all-you-can eat prime rib buffet at one point for $19.99 and a decent wine list. Only harness tracks they took at that point were NFLD and Chicago.

Might as well be in Australia! I am about 10 driving hours from the border.

You won't see CalX at Gulfstream or dogs.

Js there's usually a little colliding as the dogs come out of the box and with the outside dogs breaking and coming inward and some midtrack dogs coming out of the rail positions it can get a little tight in the first turn. Thats why if you can get a midtrack liking dog out of the 7 or 8 hole to pop the box he may be able to go wire to wire. Naturally the 3,4 &5 are positioned to take the brunt of the bumping from either side. I still loved going there and wish it was still open 4pezz2

yea sometimes closers can win especially if they break slow and shoot thru the first turn as the dogs in front of them bump each other wide. Also they do have races at different distances usually 5/16 sprints, 3/8 long distance and 7/16 occasionally for a marathon race. The 3/8 races start near a turn like yonkers does so inside position usually helps on those even if the dog is a "closer"..you just hope he avoids trouble till he gets out of the turn.

Sorrento Warrior was the Dog's name who they called "super pup". We would go almost every Sat night he raced and it seemed like he set the track record 6 weeks in a row. I am with ya mags, loved going there.
When we go to vegas, T my Mom and I still play them. One of the tracks in Florida has a 2500K guarantee on there pick 4 We are in! rflmao1

Ahhh, the Dairyland days. I remember "50-cent night" and seeing a guy carrying a tray of 7 beers and then me realizing that it was only $3.50!
I once took down an entire super pool with my buddy...we each had a winning ticket and we were the only winners in the $3K pool.
Some useful tips:
1. Bet any dog that shows a good closing kick. If that dog happens to get out of the box quickly, the race is over.
2. Good early speed helps.
3. Bet the highest quinella probable. For Christ's sake, their dogs! rflmao1

Other than hitting a couple of smallntrifectas last nite. Rough nite betting the dogs. Beer was cold though. 15 races is way too many though. Had fun.
