Title: In case you were worried
Post by: LVGaryD on August 15, 2012, 03:02:51 PM
I just returned home from my annual "executive physical". No I am not an executive, but I think this means they charge more for it.

Eye test was so-so, same with hearing test-right ear is fine, left not so fine (nearly deaf). Carotid arteries are normal and clear of plaque. Aorta is clear and free of aneurisms, lungs and heart sounded normal, my breathing test I blew off the chart or "higher than the computer can score," according to the lovely Donna, who conducted that test. My liver, kidneys, and thyroid are all normal according to the ultrasound tests, and I still have those three pesky gallstones I had last year.

Donna did have trouble hitting my vein though (much to my consternation), but I had warned her about my foul mouth prior to the needle going in. She said she talks like a sailor too, and I later learned she really does. I loved Donna. She reminds me of Rach-Bob.

So pending the results of the bloodwork and chest xray, Dr. Ballard said old Gary D. is going to be around for many years to come, and he also recommended I use medical marijuana for pain, depression, and general well being. This is a doctor that knows his stuff!

 thumbsup

My 1st prostate test was from my teeny-tiny little Chinese lady doctor. (with tiny fingers)

Thank goodness it wasn't an NFL retired lineman wearing his Super Bowl ring.

Great men must think along the same lines.  I also went to the doctor for a check up yesterday.  I was declared fit as a fiddle.  The doctor said my good cholesterol was a tad low, but the ratio of good to bad was fine. He said lose weight and increased exercise should take care of that.  Although I feel fine at an1/8 of a ton, I will work to bring it down closer to 1/9 of a ton. I will have to cut my calories to 3500 a day.  Tough, but doable.  Getting to the fitness center 3-4 times a week for a 40 min workout will be tougher.  I have become vary lazy.

Get yourself a treadmill and start walking as soon as Northfield shows 0 minutes to post, you should be able to get in an hour or so workout over the course of the evening.

Thanks for the advice, but treadmills are not my cup of tea, too boring.
