Golden Receiver heads Dan Patch field
May 30, 2012
Golden Receiver, the number-one ranked horse in North America, heads a field of nine entered in Saturday's $200,000 Dan Patch Invitational Pace at Hoosier Park. Dave Palone, who is nearing Herve Filion's all-time record 15,180 career wins, has been named to drive Golden Receiver by trainer Mark Harder. Palone has driven Golden Receiver four times in his career, in late 2010 and early 2011, and has three wins and a second in the Preferred at The Meadows.
Also in the field is recent Levy Memorial final winner Atochia, who hails from the barn of North America's leading conditioner, Ron Burke. Special T Rocks, a 10-time winner already in 2012 for trainer-driver Daryl Bier, will also line up behind the gate.
Here is the complete field for the Dan Patch, which is scheduled as the 12th race on Hoosier Park's Saturday program, with listed driver:
1 OK Commander (Peter Wrenn)
2 Drop Red (Ed Hensley)
3 Freddyscooter (Trace Tetrick)
4 Ideal Choice (Peter Wrenn)
5 Golden Receiver (Dave Palone)
6 Nob Hill High (Aaron Merriman)
7 Special T Rocks (Daryl Bier)
8 Atochia (Ricky Macomber Jr.)
9 Rockincam (Peter Wrenn)
Golden receiver has been off two weeks, since beating a very good field in the Graduate, wire to wire in 48.2. They gave him a month off between his win in the Spring Pacing Championship and the Graduate and it didn

Golden Receiver wire-to-wire. Duhh. Unless pressed, & Atochia picks up pieces, as is his specialty.

In 2009 they hit the quarter in 25. WTW took the top at the half but ran out of gas

Out of Grinfromeartoear. Name another that came from that crop that made any money?

Was definitely Shark Gesture's greatest race. Saw him up close. What an athlete! Saw him that night. What a horse! Completely black, not real big, but saw strings in muscles when he moved. Athlete. Think he finally tore a tendon. From a decent stud, but predict will not throw much.
Save your money. He was a fluke

Are you referencing Shark Gesture or Mr Big, Unknown? Since you never mention the latter I assume you

I apologize. Was wrong.

Both those horses kicked the sh-t out of us so many times, I guess I get them mixed up.

Golden Receiver (2-5) made the top in an instant; Palone didn't need to go one of those nasty cavalry charge opening quarters. They hit it in a mild 26.3. Half in 55; GR having it all his own way. Special T Rocks was first up aroaching the last turn, but he never pulled up beside GR and stressed him out.
That long stretch did in Golden Receiver as he fell apart the final eighth. Track regular Peter Wrenn came from way off with Rockincam to take it in 51.1. Special T second, followed by Atochia and Golden Receiver.
The winner was third choice at 10-1. Special T Rocks was second choice at 4-1.

A horse cross-over prior to "go", may have been the winner.
Could anybody confirm?

Thanks Dolfan.
I couldn't figure out what horse it was.
