Title: Coleman's Michaels Power Wins 600K Upper Canada Cup
Post by: Elgin on May 26, 2012, 07:56:57 PM
The lightly raced Camluck gelding, Michaels Power (3-5), wired the field for an easy win in the $600,000 Upper Canada Cup final at Georgian Downs. Scott Zeron drove and Casie Coleman trains. The mile went in :50. Post position meant everything as Michaels Power drew the three while rival Mel Mara (Luc Ouellette) drew the eight. The latter, second choice at 8-5, wound up third over and finished third. Huxley was second.
This is the largest restricted purse offered anywhere.
Thunder Seelster won the 50K consolation in the same time--:50.
