Title: Simpson/Bolt The Duer/MacDonald
Post by: Elgin on May 05, 2012, 05:45:21 PM
Nice to see Mark MacDonald take the Simpson with the promising Ponder colt, Bolt The Duer. Nice patient drive, letting Dube go with Friday At Five at the half, then coming back in the final eighth.

MacDonald told Heyden that he's really looking forward to racing BTD in the Rooney since the colt is so comfortable on the half in general, and YR in particular. Most of the better colts will be racing in the SBSW during that first week of June but BTD isn't eligible to the SBSW or the NA Cup.

The Rooney only has nine eligibles and two of the better ones, Pet Rock and Major Bombay, are also eligible to the SBSW.

Hurrikane Kingcole is also a Rooney eligible, but this could turn into an easy payday for BTD.

He's also got all those KY SS races available to him. He could make some serious money without knocking himself out against the stars this year.

It worked out okay but if Gingras doesn't tip out so early, BTD does not get free early enough & then it's boneheaded.  But I guess the only thing that matters is the result.

I thought it was a terrible drive...to let Dube take the lead from him.  He was lucky to get out.

You should have heard me cussing at the OTB during the race.  rflmao1
