Title: Derby Day 5/5
Post by: pezz97 on May 04, 2012, 04:56:13 PM
Can someone please explain to me why in the world in race#7, That Shackelford is listing as the morning line favorite????

Did DarinZ make the line for that race?? WTF

The 6 does not show a win at distance.
The 1 is comimg off a huge layoff
Shackleford just ran 3rd behind arguably the best 7 furlong or mile horses in America..
He drew inside of the 6
If the race was 6 furlongs I would not have him  as the fav but at  7 I would.

Pezz, I think the ML maker is predicting that Shackleford will be bet on name recognition from last year's Triple Crown.

Keeping in them with my "Value" plays, I like the 3 and 5 as longshots. Now you are free to AUTOTOSS them.  rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1

These longshots are my picks if the track is dry, which I'm not sure it will be.

I ended up getting off Rags and Dullahan  and on to Creative Cause. I bet him on top of all my gimmicks and wp. Threw Bode on top of one tri ticket. Even though i dont think he will be around at the end.

Good luck all.

I think I liked yseterdays card better from a betting standpoint.  Have enough of my winnings from yesterday to play today, so that is good.  HAven't identified any big bets as of yet, so for now, I'm taking it easy.  Do have 3 live ones in the Oaks/Derby double.  Hope that works out.

Race 1  Politically Correct- can handle these  Atigun- will be heavy fav, could win but no value.  Point Taken- comesin ready for this.  Will throw in Afford for the gimmicks

RAce 2  VAsten looks ready off last , Rock N Glamour-like some of his works
Speargun-ready to win

Race 3  Z Dagger-looks ready now  Windsurfer-faced tougher  Golden Terror-likely fav  Agent Di Nozzo- going long today

Race 4  Southern Anthem-speedy sort Veriformerscratched-making comeback try.
Souper Spectacular-scratchedanother comeback kid

been on a cold streak last month so we shake things up and look thoroughbred today..my derby picks

#5 Dullahan - no wins on dirt but after watching last yrs juvenile from Churchill he seemed to get around ok and he should love the added distance..last race was visually impressive though it was on Keenelands artificial..with him using #4 Union Rags,#13 Went the Day well, and #19 I'll have another and probably boxing those four..good luck everyone

Race 5  #1 Seven Lively Sins-should be flying  Devoted Wildcat-Am throwing out last on the turf  Therma Cat-crushed em at the Hawt  Mile High Magic- west coast speedster  Alexander The Great-insane longshot

Race #5 I really Like the 3. Reminds me of how Bodemeister came out this year. Martin never moved a muscle in his last and was just so impressive. With track still a little wet, I will use the 12 on a saver ticket in the pick 4

Here's my take on the Darby:

Great Ride by Gutierrez to save ground from the 19 hole. I'll Have Another should be favored to win the Preakness with another ride like that, IMO.

Not sure how I feel about Bodemeister. On one hand, there's no reason to stop a horse after a great start that Bode had. On the other, the fractions were ridiculous. I'm still torn on the ride, but it was a hell of a performance by him. I hope they rest Bode for races this fall.

Union Rags - Shocker that Leparoux got him in trouble. rflmao1 That is what worried me about Rags before the race.

Gemologist - Absolutely no friggin excuse. Was 5th early on and just stopped. What a rat.

Went the Day Well - Excellent close in the last 1/4, probably suited well for Belmont and the Turf.

Daddy Nose Best - What can I say? Another year, another Darby loser for me  rflmao1 rflmao1 rflmao1 Daddy Nose Best had a little trouble early, but he was never going to make a difference, even with a clean trip.

Two things I got right was Peppy Lepew is a BAD FIT for Union Rags and like I said before Baffert said he was going to the front with Bode. Everyone said he'd rate. All in all I made money for the two days. Would you believe it that Thistledown made me the most money. I hit the late double fri. that paid almost 200.00

lilcheerleader I came home from the track with 15mins to the Derby.  Kids said well what did you bet?  I told 'em I didn't.  Just don't have time to pay much attention to the thorobreds.  got a barn full of horses racing. We watch the race and inbetween the comments from the kids about the race as to who was going to win and "here comes Borel" ,  I said the horse in the middle pickin up horses on the backside will win if he doesn't run out of track.  Kids & husband proceeded to bash my comments.  so horse wins.  cameras go to Trainer  Doug Oneil and ect.  and the light bulb comes on.  Hey I think I made one future bet back in Jan. or whatever.  so I pulled up my account and there were my little $4 bets on 6 horses.  I said what number was "I'll have Another"?  Kids said 19 .  LOL    $122 for my $4 bucks!!  Always better to  be luckey than good.  rflmao1

From the Players Pool:

"The Players` Pool had 15 winning $0.50 Pick 5 tickets today. Each winning $0.50 Pick 5 ticket returned $1485.05 (for a Pick 5 gross/net return total of: $22,275.75). The Pool also had 3 $1.00 Super Hi-5 winning tickets. Each $1 Super Hi-5 ticket returned $1,833.80 (for a Super Hi-5 gross/net return of $5,501.40).
