Woodbine is offering a stakes-filled card this Saturday and on one of the biggest Standardbred program so far this year, racing fans will be treated to a trio of top-notch stakes finals. Trotting titan San Pail will take on six others in the $125,000 Glorys Comet final while Golden Receiver will compete against nine aged pacers in the $125,000 Spring Pacing Championship. Ten 3-year-old pacers will also contest the $50,000 Youthful Series final where the Rob Fellows-trained Piston Broke hopes to find the winner's circle.
The stakes action starts early with the Glorys Comet in the second race.
After capturing both preliminary legs of the series, San Pail, reigning Horse of the Year in Canada and the U.S., will look to win his second consecutive Glorys Comet title and extend his unbeaten streak to 10. In the opening round, the Rod Hughes trainee ended Mister Herbie's eight-race win streak. The talented Jeff Gillis pupil will look return the favor this weekend, but it won't be an easy task.
"I think his (Mister Herbie) chances might be a little bit better this week,

In the Comet final I'll be looking at the odds of Windsong Geant very carefully. WG really gave SP the run for his money in his last race and if 8-1 or better its a w/p bet for me.
In the SPC final I will be looking at the odds of #1 Classic Rocknroll and hopefully Jody chooses him to drive which I think he will. W/P bet on him. In his last two races he was hurt badly by the slow upfront fractions and the small fields. This is a full field of 10 horses with scorers in Sparky Marks in the 9 hole and Major Kyle in the 10 hole and GR and AH in the middle posts which should insure an honest pace. A 54 half will do.
I Just don't see San pail or Golden Receiver Losing This week. So I will just watch

Here is a good article after the races.
I hate to see San Pail lose and wonder why Golden Receiver with his signature White felt knee pads get on a roll? All very nice horses for the game bowdown

Give Gillis and Jamieson credit, they wore down the best trotter in the world on his home track, where they very rarely lose. San Pail has been dominant and to see him lose was shocking. All credit where it is due to the connections of Mister Herbie.
